trouble falling asleep

Hello again. I've done pretty much everything that can be expected to become therapy compliant. Eliminated leaks, carefully followed mask instructions, turned off the ramp feature to avoid unnecessary increases in airpressure that causes awakenings, used the mask during the day to get accustomed to ...

Re: brain damage?

As a former professional lifeguard, I have had a ton of first aid training, including tons of CPR/AED and oxygen administration training. I used to be trained to the level where the next step would have been to get my EMT license. I can tell you after being recertified in CPR and O2 administration ...

Re: adjusting the mask tips

Yes, I hope you find what works for you. I'm interested in trying the dream wear mask but concerned with your comment about smell. Have you been able to determine the odor cause. I wouldn't like that either. Wondering if others have observed this as well ? Thanks! It still smells, even after being ...

Re: adjusting the mask tips

I have been using the Sleepweaver masks on and off for about 4 years. I have used all of their models at one time or another. My favorite is the Elan. But I have to use the featherweight hose that is designed to work with it. A standard hose will distort the the mask and insure leaks. Some sort of ...

Re: adjusting the mask tips

YOUR SLEEPWEAVER CLOTH MASK - Please tell me more about it. I wanted to try this one for the comfort aspect, but many of the review said it leaks a lot. I have a round face, sort of flat, small nose - like an like an Asian person. Do you think it would work on me, or do you have to have a bigger no...

Re: brain damage?

any posts about possible brain damage from OSA? I have found info on the web that says some brain damage symptoms recover after 3 months of CPAP, others after one year. I have been on CPAP for 7 months. Just recognizing some short term memory challenges as I work. Anybody know if my doctor might pr...

adjusting the mask tips

So for several days I've been using my cpap daily. Both day and night to try to adjust to it. But no dice. The only time it almost worked was when I had a bit of day time sleepiness(I generally have a slight issue with, the times i do have it, I fall asleep if I lay down). Any other advice? How long...

Re: airblasts

I finally figured out a way to make it comfortable. I had to adjust the straps enough to not put a lot of pressure on my nasal bridge. Before I'd not do it out of the risk of leaks. But screw it. I need to sleep with this and as long as I don't move in my sleep alot. I'll be fine. If I sit up, I imm...

Re: airblasts

Ok tried it with higher pressure. And turning the ramp function off. I'm having a hard time sleeping with the machine despite not getting airblasts. Any recommendations for adjustments? I used it for 50 minutes to an hour before I had to take it off, because I was unable to fall asleep.

Re: Would a new sleep study be worth it?

Losing weight has made a difference; I'm definitely not cured, but it is different. I've tried upping the pressure, lowering it, but I still only have a few days out the month where I feel somewhat ok. The worst days are the brain-fog days, where I do things like leave a bunch of money in the groce...

Re: airblasts

Your CPAP machine has an "SD" data card which stores the nightly data. If your computer doesn't already have an SD card reader, you'd need to get one......they're only about $10 at places like Walmart. It's the same type of data-card that many digital cameras use. Den . Alright i've set up the appl...

Re: airblasts

Are you checking your data? There should be a flow limit right before that blast of air. It should not be a 4->15 jump in a single step. For me it took a while to change from "what the heck is going wrong" to "relax it's working just fine" The machine is supposed to be doing that, you just don't "k...

airblasts

I think, I'm almost able to say that I'm successful in making the treatment work. Remzzz cloth patches eliminated most of the irritation of wearing silicone. The final problem seem to be airblasts. Just when I'm about to fall asleep on my back. I get this annoying blast of air that basically wakes m...
