Re: What's the cause and effect of Weight and Sleep Apnea
It's difficult to say. It has to do with the structure of your muscle fibers in the throat muscles. If they're defective congenitally or if they have been damaged by years of apnea. The OSA is permanent. If not, the the apnea should resolve with weight loss. I'd get treated instead of worrying about...

Re: Issues with memory retrieval
They don't ship to the country I live in, unfortunately. I tried a mask liner before. It didn't work. At the moment i'm detoxing the elan sleepweaver soft mask. Until then i'll have to just rely on the dental appliance to get me through the night. Uncomfortable as it is. Make your own. Like I said,...

Re: Ever Too Late?
I'm not an old timer. I'm just beginning therapy. But I still want to give me 2 cents. I think if you value what's left of your life. I'd definitely do everything in my power to get set up and fix it. If only because you can make your life quality increase significantly, and because in the future th...

Re: Issues with memory retrieval
My other machine broke down. So I have a new one, unfortunately, the mask I recently bought was not suitable for me. It was causing facial irritation at the areas where the silicone made contact with my face. Which made it hard to sleep. At the moment I'm trying to adjust to the dental appliance. O...

Re: Encouragement needed
Hi everyone, I'm on my 4th day using my CPAP. I've read a lot on here and I know that the transition is hard but I just need to vent and I'm hoping I can get some encouragement. I'm 36 and I started being so sleepy. I just couldn't get enough sleep no matter what I tried. During the work week I cou...

Re: Issues with memory retrieval
Proper treatment is important if it is related to apnea. I am out of work due to this. I let mine too bad, the quicker you get treatment and the proper therapy the quicker you will recover. When was your last sleep study. I made my do another and I had to from a cpap to bipap and I am sleeping bett...

Re: Issues with memory retrieval
I'm beginning to have this symptom. It's distressing. At the moment it's still minor. Hoping it's not getting worse by the time I start treating this disease appropriately.

Issues with memory retrieval
Does anyone have this weird symptom. It's like your memory retrieval is effed up? Say you're thinking of name "alan" it comes out as "Adam" or say "wrench" comes out as "winch", when you're thinking. Did it go away with treatment? (Grumps, if you're not interested in answering the question. Please s...

Re: Poll On Changes In Energy/Well Being After CPAP
It will probably come. I remember that in October. I had a perfect nights sleep. I woke up so refreshed. I haven't slept that good since last year. Brain fog was completely gone. I still had cognitive issues and lack of alertness and the rest of the issues with sleep apnea. But I feelt so great and ...

I don't think it might be too much worse. Not clinically significant worse anyway. Even with 15% rem sleep your AHI only went up 5.4. Your oxygen saturation looks excellent. Try the cpap see if it gets better.

Even a lab study can give false negatives. I remember reading a few months ago that the failure rate, of polysomnographies are like 10-15%. It's also subject to factors like supine sleeping.Julie wrote:But he had a lab study, not home studies like you did.

Re: Can an ENT make a difference?
Why not opt for mandibular advancement. It seems to have worked for alot of people with sleep apnea. It causes a significant expansion of the airway. And it seems to work, even in severe cases. The success rate is much higher than uvualplasty and other stuff. The problem just seems to be the recover...

Re: Do I Have Sleep Apnea??
You probably have: UARS or mild sleep apnea that you didn't get diagnosed the first time. It happened to me aswell when i got my first and second homestudies. The equipment failed to diagnose me the first time, because it lacked sensitivity and was generally just bulky. My initial AHI's and CO2 were...
