Keep in mind that ResMed was very agressive in scoring Hypopneas with the S8. The general work around was to take the Hypopnea score and divide it by 2.
This was corrected in the S9 and Autoset 10 units.

Re: Interpreting my home sleep study results?
It looks like they were a little aggressive in flagging desaturations. I don't see a value for artifacts, but looking at the data there are many places where the desaturation and pulse increase could be explained by an artifact. An artifact occurs when you move your finger inside the oximeter and th...

Re: OT: California Warning Label
It seems CA is falling down on the warnings they offer. 1 in 8 people die in their sleep so it would seem that CA would have a warning that sleep can cause death...

Re: HELP NEEDED!!!
A painters dust mask won't work. A respirator has better possibilities. The problem is figuring out how much to vent to keep from rebreathing your exhaled air. This is a trial and error effort. ResMed views 24 liters/minute as a large leak. That may be a reasonable target or reduce it to something l...

Re: How hot can a machine get and still work ok ?
It looks like the operating temperature is from 41F to 95F with a note about 104F. At 104F the unit remains safe so that may be a good upper limit to stay below.

Re: what keeps the airway open on expiration?
Just to present an alternative perspective... This is extremely difficult to do so if you are frail don't attempt this. We normally consider chest expansion and drawing air in as inhalation. Everything relaxes and air goes out during exhalation. Some breathing exercises focus on forcing more air ou...

Put the machine in a sealed container with some silica gel. You will need roughly 1.5 grams of the silica gel but to be safe round that up to 3 or even 5 grams. You should be able to find the silica gel at your local arts and crafts store or perhaps at a hardware store. You can monitor your progress...

Re: CPAP Friendly Hotels
I travel a lot. I carry a Sil Eco mat that I put my machine on and it is placed on the floor. In spite of some earthquakes I have never had my unit fall off of the floor. Frequently in older motels a place to plug in can be an issue so I carry a 16' extension cord rated at 13 amps. In addition I car...

Tom, let's back up a moment...
The machine is working to keep your airway open. Is it possible that the swelling in the eyes and cheeks are being caused by something else?
I totally agree that you tried... I am sorry I was unable to help you succeed.

Before you quit...
Perhaps a change in perspective will help. Are you able to identify anything that is more positive now?
While you are dialing in your machine, how about resetting your circadian rhythm?
Sometimes expanding your perspective offers new insights...
