Re: Prices for Machines
If you use a brick and mortar DME, they charge way more (to cover rent, etc). Like you I have a fairly high deductible. I pay cash at online vendors (like Chunky said, cpap.com is reputable and my go to). Unless you are a mask freak, it's hard to cover the deductible for an APAP, mask and supplies. ...

Then, that's a good price. In the back of my mind, I think I remember as mask restriction, but that may have been a different model (a mini, maybe? or a battery powered model.)

Re: Using CPAP machine when awake
It's physically impossible to become dependent on the device when awake (unless you are a victim of brain trauma, or tumor. But then, you are unconscious and have bigger problems). It is a psychological issue. If it interferes with waking life, seek professional help.

Re: Airstart 10 CPAP,......
It's a CPAP, not an APAP. The Specs tab on cpap.com might help you. It would work for me, but I'm a CPAP guy.

Re: Using CPAP machine when awake
There is no need for him to do that unless he is still trying to get used to the equipment. When we are awake, the muscles/nerves keep the throat open. It is a sleep disorder. That's when the apnea occurs. Good luck I read someplace that there's something called CPAP addiction, is that a real thing...

Not to take this OT, but... Hey, Den. You gave me my first piece of advice on PAP therapy. Thanks for that and good seeing you back. Now, back on topic.

Re: cpaptalk clock
No worries Carolyn or Pugsy. OCD isn't as fun a deal as most would suspect. Carolyn, you answered just fine, no misunderstanding - just a poorly formed question on my part. Now you know. Pugsy, you are a very deep source of knowledge for this place. Each of you have a good night.

Re: Feeling suffocated with CPAP
Thanks a lot for the replies! When I was using the machine I could breathe, but it was like I don't get enough oxygen. As a result I even got a little palpitation. I felt like I've been holding my breathe for 10 seconds even though I've been breathing... My doctor set my pressure to between 4 and 9...

Thanks Carolyn. As I'm I. Is it a daylight savings time vs std time issue? Not that big of a deal, just curious.

Re: Feeling suffocated with CPAP
With pressures as low as yours, I'm not surprised. When I started, my prescription was set 4-20 cm. I felt suffocated until my minimum pressure was adjusted to 7 cm. I'm no expert, but I would adjust your minimum to 6 or 7 cm and see what that does.

Re: A strange problem ...
I doubt your nose bleeds are XPAP related, Blowing your nose can be traumatic if the vessels are compromised by any irritation. When I have bleeding issues, I just sleep as normal. I've not had a bleeding episode in my mask (I am on anti-coagulants).
