Very unfortunately this makes the upper jaw shorter (front to back) and leaves less room for the airway.

So sorry Dennis.

Re: How many teeth do you have?

In my case, it wasn't until I was 20. Not a sign of them before that, in one year they went from "I don't see them" to "they have to come out" I am under the impression that wisdom teeth do not develop until late teens or early twenties. I wonder if that is nature or if it is because of our underde...

Re: How many teeth do you have?

I'm in the same boat as you, Rooster, except that all four of my wisdom teeth had to be removed. One had impacted, the other 3 were developing, but already showed signs of heading for impaction, and so were removed at the same time. The dentist looked at the x-ray and said "oh yeah, they're all com...

Re: Need Advice, second opinion.......

Go to the mirror and count your teeth. If you have 32 it is unlikely you have sleep apnea. If you have 28 or fewer it is highly likely you do have sleep apnea. Has there ever been a poll on here for this? Thanks for the idea. See http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t63541/How-many-teeth-do-you-have.h...

How many teeth do you have?

This is a poll for people with obstructive sleep apnea and/or UARS. This condition (sleep-disordered breathing or SDB) is known in most cases to be caused by craniofacial problems. That is, some of the various bones of the skull and/or face are abnormal and this abnormality results in a narrow airwa...

Re: How important is it to keep down VS (Vibratory Snore)

How important is it to keep down VS (Vibratory Snore)? I will take the minority position on this one. Some leading edge sleep doctors do indeed believe that snoring alone (without apnea) may have serious effects on one's health. For instance, We know that in drivers, snoring alone without having fo...

Speaking of privacy in today's electronic world of communication, it was covered on a new episode of South Park last night, http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s15e01-humancentipad. Specifically the episode was about the terms and conditions you agree to when you download from I-Tunes. One...

Re: Apnea Ignorance

The Dr got angry and said "She does not need a sleep study. She does not have sleep apnea. She is not morbidly obese and she does not have a short neck" From memory, paraphrasing Dr. Park in a recent interview, "Dentists understand the cause of sleep apnea better than even sleep doctors." And that ...

Re: Apnea Ignorance

I follow the Sleep Wellness Institute's page on Facebook, and about an hour ago, they posted this: "Today's news: Singer Katy Perry reveals to Oprah that she has sleep apnea and uses CPAP. She says it is very successful for her." Katy Perry is a slim, tall, and young singer.....doesn't fit the ster...

Re: Median Pressure Increasing, Why?

Thoughts? Not just about the median pressure in the OT, but of the #'s as a whole? As a whole, your numbers look quite good and you might just want to relax and forget it. On the other hand, if you have any concerns, since you mention snoring on your back, you could look into positional sleep apnea...

Re: Median Pressure Increasing, Why?

You do not complain of any physical symptoms, so it sounds to me that you are getting mentally hung up on a median number that is probably of little significance. If that is all you are concerned about then set your min pressure a few centimeters lower and the median number will go down. But that is...

Re: 10 to 13 cm in two years

Frankly though, I am not really sure what you meant there... The night you spend being titrated in the sleep lab is very different from the nights you sleep at home. The patient usually comes with some level of anxiety about the strange environment and the people watching and listening to him while...
