Re: Thank you/Which software/Intellipap user

I have both Sleepyhead and the DeVillbiss software. For your needs as a patient, Sleepyhead is the best software. If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought only the Smartlink module to use with Sleepyhead. If you think that the automatic pressure adjustment is causing your fragmented slee...

Re: Zoloft's effect on AHI?

Hi, Let me qualify what I am about to say by stressing I am not a doctor or medical professional and am speaking totally from my personal experience and nothing more. As an FYI, I was on a psych med cocktail for 15 years, including withdrawal time, and at various points, included SSRIs. I can't prov...

Thank you/Which software/Intellipap user

As a relative newbie, I wanted to thank this board profusely. Even though I have hit some major snags in my treatment, it is because of the information on this board that I have narrowed the issues and know what questions to ask my doctor if I need to see her. I have come to the point where I feel I...

Re: Clinician Locks on xPAPs

It was through an "evil" internet board that I learned how to safely taper off of a psych med cocktail. If I had done it the way my psychiatrist wanted, which would have been way too fast, there is no doubt in my mind I would have suffered severe withdrawal symptoms and probably would not have been ...

Re: Flonase (and related nasal steroids) may be keeping you up..

That was definitely my experience with Nasonex when I took it 5 years ago. I thought I was losing my mind when I could have sworn it was causing insomnia. But at the time, I couldn't find any information until an RN I knew verified I wasn't going crazy. I don't remember her exact explanation but I t...

Re: DeVilbiss Humidifier Question

I finally figured it out. I turned it upside and just started pressing on various areas and the top came off.

Next problem - Noise issue which will be another post.

Re: DeVilbiss Humidifier Question

Sorry... I did not mean to offend you if I did. Yes it I can see it to be challenging with visual perceptual and manual dexterity problems. Maybe you could stand it up on edge in the sink some how and then pour the water in. So what if it spilled, it would be in the sink. You might use a little mor...

I just turn mine up and hold the gallon jug of distilled water to the opening and fill it. not a big deal or hard Actually, it is hard for me due to my visual perceptual and manual dexterity problems. Re: DeVilbiss Humidifier Question

Thanks, it just seems like the openings are so small and it is going to be hard to clean.

Actually, the instructions say to use distilled water.

DeVilbiss Humidifier Question

I am just got my machine today and am trying to figure out how everything works. Unfortunately, I am having trouble understanding the instructions for filling the humidifier and my computer DVD is not working so I can see there is a better explanation there. I took out the tray and I see two small r...

Re: Intro from a newbie/No health insurance

Wow, thank you all for your help. Paul56 - Thanks, cpap.com is definitely one site I have marked as a possible purchase site. No, it never occurred to me to buy on Craig's List. Too many variables. NotSleepingBeauty - I agree there is plenty of online knowledge about masks. And good idea about getti...

Re: Intro from a newbie/No health insurance

Thanks Pugsy for your quick response. Usually, I can breath through my nose with some effort. I have chronic sinisitus and a deviated septum. Unfortunately, the usual remedies (sinus rinsing and various nasal sprays) has not worked. I would love to use a nasal pillow mask. It sounds like in reading ...

Intro from a newbie/No health insurance

Hi, I have been tentatively diagnosed with sleep apnea on the basis of a home study test and am waiting for the final report from my doctor. She couldn't tell me the severity but to be honest, i would be surprised if it was mild. If I do have it, I will need to rent a cpap machine that does autotitr...
