Re: Bathroom trips. Turn off or leave my Airsense on?

In over 12 years of successful xpappery, I find it much easier to disconnect the mask, and re-connect upon return. Easy, breezy.

I can think of no good reason to leave the machine on during intermission.

I'm a veteran with an Honorable Discharge and am on XPAP. Not disabled and will never be.
Same exact story here.

(And, if anyone called this 69 yr old vet "disabled", I would challenge them to a 5-mile foot race followed by a game of concentration.)

Some very interesting hobbies and activities hereabouts! Everything from coaching swimming to baking prize cookies. And, that fish by Emmet is major league. As a retired scientist, I prefer to be more active now, and spend a little less time w the books. I ski in the winter and then spring through f...

I do love success stories; and, so do a whole lot of folks who don't know if they might have OSA and what to expect if they do.

Good on ya!

Re: Switching to a FF Mask

Forgot to suggest that you buy some Melatonin to help you fall asleep. I am taking 10mg a night. Doc said it is safe to use. It even helped when I was waiting for my replacement CPAP but I took a higher dosage then. Rubyslippers, I know you mean well, and I'm sure that you are a very nice and carin...

Re: Timeline of CPAP machine releases and what’s coming down the pipeline.

Well, if the companies are reading, here's my wish list for a new model. 1. Some easy-to-use, but much more comprehensive sleep tracking software. I prefer complete nightly feedback on every aspect of my night's breathing (event types, duration, leaks, respiratory data, you name it, I would like it....

Re: Had two bad nights back to back... any thoughts?

What I do if my AHI creeps up is to change my unit's filter, and then to ensure that there are no mask leaks. (I've had some sneaky mask leaks where the cushion on my nasal mask seemed tightly secured, but was just slightly loose.) Other possibilities might include a minor cold or allergies. Lots of...

Re: Flu

Back in Dec 05, on the very day that I picked up my very first CPAP, I came down w a nasty type A influenza. I was determined to get used to the machine, even feeling yucky and goopy, as I had already read that OSA diminishes one's immune response. I stuck with it (washed everything each day), and I...

Re: New, Apria,

I agree with LSAT. Get the Autoset machine instead of whatever Airsense model they try to stick you with. Also, NEVER give them your credit card number! Apria has a HORRIBLE reputation.......here and everywhere else. If you doubt that, go to the Search line above and put it in. Den . Wulfman Den is...

Re: CPAP and TSA screening

A few years back, I was on a flight that was cancelled at the mid-route hub. We had to stay the night, and, our checked luggage was unavailable to us. A gent on the flight made the irate statement that both his cpap and his HBP meds were in his checked luggage. The next day, when our delayed flight ...

Re: Head colds

How do CPAPers deal with a full blown head cold? Antihistamines tend to raise blood pressure, but so does OSA. A reasonable question, and as one might expect, there are many strats that work for different apneic patients. I do not take decongestants (why raise my bp?) and I do not take antihistamin...

Re: Poll: How long on cpap? How old are you?

I've been on cpap (for one year) then-apap for a total of 12 years; and I'm 69 yrs of age. (If anyone wants to call me "old", I'll challenge them to a 5 mile foot race followed by a game of Concentration.)

As a footnote, apap is a major factor in my reaching a healthy 69.

Re: Getting a Respironics Dreamstation auto pap

What is a pressure range problem? If it's too wide, there can be inherent problems. If the minimum is too low, it can take too long to reach an effective pressure. If the user has many flow limitations and/or snores and few hypopneas or apneas, the pressure can run up further than what it needs to ...

Re: I officially belong here!

I think I might be one of the few who is happy and excited about this diagnosis, I have been so exhausted and run down for a while now and this offers hope of feeling better again lol Actually, it's not an unusual way to feel. There is a measure of comfort in knowing the likely cause of many of our...
