Re: I want to flow cool air into the mask...........
Another cool air person here. We don't have AC, and I don't bother to chill the water, but during the summer when it's warm, the air from the CPAP is always cooler than room air, and I often put my hands or wrists in front of the vent on my mask to help myself cool off. During the winter we keep our...

Re: valves seem to close when I exhale
We need to know which mask you are using. There have been some documented issues with leakage around the elbow that connects some masks to the hose, particularly full face masks. Sometimes it's a matter of paying attention to that spot and PROPERLY seating the elbow and the mask, sometimes the mask ...

Re: Sleep Study - Why Only One Night of Data?
But in the context of evaluating a likely-OSA-sufferer, the real purpose of most home sleep tests these days is simply to look for some/any indication that PAP therapy may be helpful to the person. If that indication is not found in the home sleep test, it is time for the likely-OSA-sufferer to get...

Re: Nasal Cushion Masks like the Airfit N30i but without the airtubes
Nasal cushion masks are very nice for side sleepers, and they are engineered KNOWING that the tube on the pillow side of the mask WILL get compressed. It's not a problem. So if the mask is comfortable and works OK, then a maxim you probably used in the military applies--"if it ain't broke, don't fix...

Re: 1 Year Into CPAP Therapy: Headaches Everyday
You might try getting a recording pulse oximeter--about $30 on Amazon to see what your 02 levels are doing during the night. That can be one explanation for headaches, even though your AHI is good and you feel rested.

Re: CPAP making things worse
Somewhere in that understandable anger your are feeling (it's actually one of the stages of grieving for this newly diagnosed condition your are grappling with), it sounds like you are willing to work to make this better. We can help. You may be having more apneas with the machine than in your sleep...

Re: Shingles Vaccine and mask sensitivity
Just because other people had no problems with the shingles vaccine doesn't mean that some people will. I know people who have really had bad reactions to this vaccine, and it's not unexpected, according to the literature. Still better than the actual disease. I've had vaccines where I've gotten ver...

Re: Resmed Airsense 10- EXTRA Large Water Tank
If you are running through all of the water in your tank before the night is over, consider whether you might be mouth breathing. While it doesn't matter pressure-wise in a FF mask, it makes a difference to your therapy in a nasal mask, and in any mask it can cause a lot of drying of the mucous memb...

Re: Inspire advertising is Anti-CPAP advertising!
I agree they are playing to an audience of people who don't like the idea of CPAP in the first place, and using that to sell their product, which is expensive, invasive, and not the best treatment for everyone. That's how commercialism and capitalism work. But the implication that Inspire is inheren...

Re: Nasal Pillow Masks (Nasal tube)
When the hose rests on your pillow or mattress, you may have some conducted noise from the machine through the hose and your pillow or mattress. I also don't like the hose touching me anywhere. I use a hose hanger. I have a homemade jury-rigged hose hanger with a pully system on a wall-mounted bedsi...

Re: Cpap & Sinutitis
CPAP without humidity can really dry out your sinuses, leading to the irritation that causes sinusitis. So, yes, experimenting with adding humidity is a good idea. But start slowly--too much humidity can be as bad as too little, and adjust only one thing at a time. Give each change a night or two to...

Re: AHI under control, still feel terrible
It took me a long time to adjust to CPAP, and once I did I craved sleep and felt pretty fatigued. I don't believe it's really possible to "make up a sleep debt" but I just wanted to be back in bed sleeping whenever I had down time for a while. I didn't have one of those "Wow, I feel great" moments, ...

Re: Afternoon Fatigue
It's good you are seeing your doctor because it could be ANYTHING, not "just" sleep apnea. You need a good, thorough exam, some bloodwork, etc. to rule out the many possibilities. How has your sleep been? Do you monitor your AHI? Has it changed significantly? Have you ever checked your overnight oxy...

I knew that and wasn't assuming you were the OP OR that OP was a commercial driver. I knew you knew that, so what was your point? This appeared to be directed at my post. btw I am not the OP. AND the OP never mentioned a CDL or any need for driving. Remember we can't see each other's facial express...
