Re: Teenager...Sleep apnea????
Do you have an oximeter? If not, buy one for $125. It will record your daughters oxygen levels during sleep. The sensor fits on the finger. If her O2 levels are going below 90% there is clearly a problem. Download the data into your computer. Then you have more information (data) to show the Dr befo...

Re: Newbies! i love my pulse oximeter! U might want to get one!
I have the same oximeter SW so maybe I can share a few things: 1. The green line is 02 and is matched to the left scale for oxygen level 2. The blue line is heat beat and is matched to the right scale for beats per minute 3. If the oximeter comes off your finger or you take it off at any point durin...

My apologies to everyone for missing the meetup. It slipped by me because the last 2 weekends I've been busy working on a house I need to sell. Great news Super Geeky -- I hope all goes well on your testing. I'll bet you run the PTree road race in 2011! Have a great trip to the far East Beanmeupscot...

Re: AHI increasing with higher CPAP
Has anyone had a similar experience as the pressure increasing so does the apnea? Definitely my AHI/AI goes up with too much pressure. You need to find the sweet spot - not too much, not too little. If all you need to do is increase pressure than we all would be on 15CM or more. As strange as this ...

Re: I went from apap to cpap to apap now to bipap??
Hi Elena, That's great news that you are going to test a Bipap. I really believe this will be the answer for you. It is so much easier to breathe with. I use a VPAP 25 from Resmed which I already posted to you about prior. Another possibility to sleep through the night with your current CPAP : Have ...

Re: Titration results in .... BiPAP?
For what it's worth I have tried many of the full faced masks and have the best results with the Fisher Paykel Forma mask. When I have sleep problems I can't blame the mask. I get zero leak levels, it's quiet, and comfortable. All the other FFM masks I tried (mirage, quattro) wore the bridge of my n...

Re: Newbie needs support-2 days w/o sleep!
one more thing.. Do you get good seal between your nose and the nasal mask cusions. If air is leaking and no amount of tweaking or adjustment helps then you should try a different size cusions to see if you get better seal. The mask should have come with small, med, or large I would think. You shoul...

Re: Newbie needs support-2 days w/o sleep!
I found this link to the manual for your machine (I think). The manual explains the buttons, LCD screen info, etc. It sounds to me like your machine is set to start at 6 and then goes up from there based on your breathing needs. Look at the setup screen as described in the manual and it will show wh...

Re: Titration results in .... BiPAP?
At a pressure of 11/7 cm H2O this patient's AHI was 1.1/HR The patient tolerated BiPAP therapy well. My guess would be that they got the best result for you with machine setting 11 (inhale, also known as IPAP) and 7 (exhale, also known as EPAP). The difference is 4 (11-7=4). A CPAP machine can set ...

Re: I don't need my Resmed S8 Elite II
Suggestions most welcome! I'm happy to hear you are doing well using the dental device. I also have a dental device (SUAD) but unfortunately for me it's not 100% effective. I use it mainly on long flights if I nap. I think your S8 has the special sized card reader for the data card, right? I would ...

Re: edit: here are my latest screen shots, leaks r better!
I thought the bipaps were for only people who needed high pressures? You are right. In most cases Bipap are prescribed for higher pressure or for people that need more than 3 digits between inhale (ipap) and exhale (epap). However, bipaps can also be a good fit for people with complicated breathing...

Re: edit: here are my latest screen shots, leaks r better!
Hi Elena, I also had trouble synchnonizing my breathing with my previous auto CPAP machine. It wanted to delivery air before I wanted to receive - very uncomfortable. I struggled with this for waaay too long. I borrowed a friends Bipap machine and the breathing experience was much, much better. I rec...

Re: Best Full Face Masks?
Added benefit is the mask captures/supports your chin to keep mouth for dropping open. No other FFM supplier on the market has chin support. The Innomed Hybrid has a flap that supports the chin. Some people like it; others have cut it off. Chin support in hybrid does not work as well because when y...
