Re: Womens hormone cycles and OSA

Interesting thought LavendarMist. I am pretty much past the hot flashes and such. They pop up rarely now. Even if HRT might help with OSA pressure needs, I wouldn't have chanced it. My mother had breast cancer, her sister died of breast cancer at a fairly young age as I was 6 when we went to her fun...

Re: Newbie report on new Encore software use

Anyone know why I might have lost a little over an hour's worth of data? I would swear that I never woke up after I went to sleep last night. Any other night yes, I have been up alot but not last night. See break in data on reports. I went to Walmart last night looking for something to use as a home...

Re: Do you have to actually be seen not breathing to have apnea?

Both of the sleep tests that I sent links for are just simple screening tests. To get you started thinking and realizing that there are many factors are involved. On the Epworth test I scored a 15 and my husband thoughts on me rated at 12. I have read where people with low Epworth scores end up havi...

Re: Do you have to actually be seen not breathing to have apnea?

There's more to sleep apnea than just sleepiness. That was just one test. Try this one. This is the one that my sister failed miserably. It actually has questions for other sleep disorders besides sleep apnea. http://www.sleepnet.com/sleeptest.html?sleepapnea=ON&sleepapnea2=ON&sleepapnea2=ON&sleepap...

Re: Womens hormone cycles and OSA

LavendarMist, I also chose not to do HRT because of strong history of familial breast cancer. My common OSA symptoms, GERD, weight gain, elevated BP, fatigue, daily morning heads and not sleeping well probably started 2 years after onset of menopause. I was given Valium for a diagnosis of anxiety to...

Re: Do you have to actually be seen not breathing to have apnea?

I just now saw your second post. My sister has half the symptoms you are presenting and I am on her case constantly to at least talk to her doctor about it. Sleep apnea hits old and young, skinny and fat, always healthy to always sickly. It doesn't discriminate. Put the old stereotype of typical sle...

Re: Do you have to actually be seen not breathing to have apnea?

There are other signs and symptoms besides snoring and visually documenting episodes of shallow or stopped breathing. Fatigue, elevated BP, GERD, morning headaches, dry mouth and need for naps are a just a few. Take the Epworth sleepiness test, see how you rate. Do one for yourself and have your hus...

Re: Womens hormone cycles and OSA

Hysterectomy that left the ovaries in 1978. Ovaries started their decline about 7 years ago. Not sure when my OSA came to be but if my elevated blood pressure and GERD are indications, then probably 3 years ago. So impossible for me to make any correlations but my sister is just finishing up with me...

Re: How Do We Chose A CPAP Machine

I am techie oriented. I like to have all the available options, just in case they might come in handy. I worked in the medical community for about 30 years. Insatiable curiosity about many things but especially anything that goes wrong with my body. I want to have as much information available to me...

Newbie report on Encore software findings

I am so glad I got the software today. 6 nights of treatment so far with minimal improvement. While not expecting a miracle I thought I would see maybe a little improvement. I guess if you can count cutting out the morning need for a nap and only having the need for afternoon nap, some improvement t...

Re: The weeks numbers... thoughts or suggestions?

do I continue using it and look like a pizza faced 15 yo or do I go with the Liberty that I just got, since it's much smaller and made of a different material and give it a go to see how it does? LOL You gotta try it. Might be as good of a leak rate or even better. We never know till we try what wi...

Re: Encore Viewer software compatiblity

It should work just fine. I am betting your Media Edition is also SP2 or even SP3 if you got that update. To check for sure go to your Start Menu/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/then System Information and look at version information. Or sometimes you can simply type in sys info into the littl...

Re: The weeks numbers... thoughts or suggestions?

It was me. It worked this time.

OMG I am so green with envy. My leak line looks like a zipper in places. Congrats on the good report. Wouldn't you know it? I have no problem with mask or air blowing up my nose but I have this leak issue to sort through.

I don't want to sound like I am bragging too much, but I am happy! The link below is my report for last night. oops, I get a page not found on your link. It is me or the link? I am so happy for you and green with envy. I just got the software installed and looked at my daily stats. The daily averag...

Re: Clarification on gettin Rx written the way I want

I have not seen the doctor for follow up but I did speak with his nurse early last week prior to the titration study. She told me he wouldn't write for auto unit unless he felt like I needed it. He would write for brand and model of choice though. So I have not seen how he actually worded his prescr...
