Re: Hello, New User/First Post....Insights/Mask question
I'm not a doctor, but have you been checked for gallstones? What you describe sounds like a gallbladder attack. They can do an ultrasound to determine that.

Re: Running out of ideas: Airsense 10 whining/whistling
Thank you. I have tried that in the past with no luck. Thanks LSAT for the reminder. Considering that with my cleaning regimen my nasal pillows need replacing every 3-4 weeks due to loss in seal, it makes sense I might just need to replace the chamber seal, which of course means the whole chamber un...

Re: Running out of ideas: Airsense 10 whining/whistling
I believe the different colors on the tub are for the regular (white) tub and dishwasher safe (gray) tub. My (white) tub sometimes whines and I squeeze down on the seal and push in till it is snug. If you decide to try another tub Cpap.com is having a sale. Here is the dishwasher safe link. https:/...

Re: Running out of ideas: Airsense 10 whining/whistling
As recommended, I wash the reservoir and seal every two days in mild detergent. If I go even 3 days, pink bacteria begins to grow inside. Once a week I wash and then soak everything in a diluted vinegar solution. I wish Resmed sold the seals separately.

Running out of ideas: Airsense 10 whining/whistling
I googled and read posts about this and have tried a few recommendations, with varying degrees of success. I read about older units having defective seals, but I've had my unit for only a year. Most confusing, I read humidifiers with white colored plastic on top are the defective ones, and those wit...

Re: Concerns: Having Surgery, Taking CPAP
It's likely to be handled only by staff, not me, while I'm in recovery. I'll probably go home later the same day without an overnight stay. I will mention my concerns to the anesthesiologist and ask to speak to the recovery nurse too. Thank you.

Concerns: Having Surgery, Taking CPAP
In two days I'm having surgery, which may or may not include an overnight hospital stay. They've told me to bring my CPAP to use while under anesthesia, and in recovery. They tell me a respiratory therapist will set it up. I use an Auto-CPAP. I am very careful to keep my CPAP clean, and am concerned...

Re: Necessary DME vs. Auto-shipped because insurance will pay?
I'm confused Den. I don't know where you got the idea I'm overpaying just to meet or add to my deductible. In fact, my individual insurance is covering almost all these supplies, one big reason why I haven't sought out an alternative up to now. I just don't like their business model, their shady pra...

Re: Necessary DME vs. Auto-shipped because insurance will pay?
I'm still interested if anyone knows of a hygiene-based replacement schedule. I should also request a written eligibility schedule. But even that won't tell me whether they'll charge me $150 for 6 itty-bitty rectangles of foam filters for my Airsense 10 if it's not scheduled, which I'd have to pay o...

Necessary DME vs. Auto-shipped because insurance will pay?
My DME supplier auto-ships me 6 nasal cushions for my P10 mask every 3 months, in addition to other scheduled supplies. The DME supplier's pamphlet suggests replacing them every 2 weeks. I haven't been replacing them nearly that often. I wash them in gentle detergent daily, and soak them in diluted ...

Re: Chin strap over or under? With P10 Nasal Pillows.
Thanks for your thoughtful response, Jay. I appreciate the comments. I, too, believe my pressure settings are too high and was able to contact my doctor and request data be sent to him to determine if I might reduce my max pressure. My hopes weren't high because it's the day before Christmas, but mi...

Re: Chin strap over or under? With P10 Nasal Pillows.
OkyDoky: An update in case you're still interested. It does seem the problem is that the pressure gets too high. It woke me at 5am REM sleep at 11.2 pressure. I woke because my cheeks had puffed out and my lips stayed closed, then the air went down my esophagus. My fresh mask cushions were well seal...

Re: Chin strap over or under? With P10 Nasal Pillows.
It took me 10 minutes to explain to him that I wanted to know what my typical night's highs were, and all he could come up with at first was the most recent single night, which I suspected was high as a result of leak. Eventually he found monthly data, and when I asked what specifically the 95th per...

Re: Chin strap over or under? With P10 Nasal Pillows.
Thank you, OkyDoky for your interest and support. I will keep that info at hand.
I believe I do use EPR and am told that the 95 percentile pressure is 9.2. My limits are 4 to 16 but I don't think I ever get that high.

Re: Chin strap over or under? With P10 Nasal Pillows.
I like the tape idea. Last night I observed myself breathing softly out of my mouth when I'd rolled onto my back in the morning hours. I had a much better seal with new nasal pillows too. What pressures are you using? Are you monitoring your therapy with Sleepyhead? What has your AHI been and is it ...
