Re: cleaning vents on the P10

Silicone doesn't 'dry out', in any reasonable time (years). The silicone cushions last far longer than the minimum replacement times that insurance allows. I've gotten years of use from the cushions I've used. +1 I only replaced my first P10 because my senior cat used the short hose as a chew toy a...

Re: New product watch. LUMIN SANITIZER.

It also makes intuitive sense to me that a warm, moist environment might lead to mold growth if left alone . Your nasal passages are warm and moist, too........ How often do you boil or use harsh cleaning products on your nose? More "germs" are probably introduced to your equipment by OVER-CLEANING...

Re: How long does a mask last?

The main thing, stockpile replacement needs, but don't go crazy, one room full is enough! Jim Ye gods, I remember moving my father out of his house in MD, back when Medicaid paid for auto shipment of new supplies every month. He'd never called and cancelled any delivery, and never replaced hi...

Re: cleaning vents on the P10

I have a cheap Colgate toothbrush that's dedicated for cleaning my masks. Little hand soap, little scrub with the brush and a rinse, that's it. Maybe once a month.

Re: New product watch. LUMIN SANITIZER.

My concern about my current cleaning process is that I'm not sure if mold could grow in my hose despite rinsing with hot soapy water, and I don't like the faint small of soap that seems hard to get rid of with rinsing. I realize I could use unscented soap, but then I'd have no indicator of when I h...

Re: A new mask by Philips Amara View and Dreamwear combo

I have not yet had any need of a FFM, like Pugsy I'm quite content with my nasal pillows, but I've been intrigued by the Amara View since seeing it in action at work (nursing home, one of my residents uses it). And this looks like the best of both worlds, rerouting the hose overhead just like my jer...

Re: what is the significance of respiratory rate

lets see if this is clearer, the machine is fixed at 9, I think an increase will help, before you do the increase, you should check that that a lower pressure makes the ahi worse and doesn't fix the RR. When this is confirmed. then I would increase the pressure to 10 and then 11, to see if that's o...

Re: Not Using Distilled Water?

The reason for using distilled water in the humidifier tank is to avoid a build up of minerals. If you use regular water and have no build up, you are good to go. Agreed. I have used my tap water several nights in a row (because for some reason our Wal-Mart seems to have droughts -haha- of distille...

Re: Ok, Enough's Enough.. Surgery Advice please :(

Yep, NOPE. As a healthcare worker who has assisted with and performed trach care (which must be done with sterile technique daily) it's not something I would consider short of life-saving necessity, which I assure you for our condition it is not. I am also a mouth breather (had the stained pillows t...

Re: ClimateLine Tubing for S9 ?

Mine is nearing 3 years old and not showing much wear, though that would be the most worn spot on it, since it's bent nearly 180° by my hose routing. If it's leaking you'll know it, it'll hiss or whistle. My cats punctured my last hose with their teeth, and that's how I knew.

Re: Suspected sleep apnea- age 22

This (sex/romance) has come up before, and a lot of it from women. It's one thing for a guy to pretend to be Darth Vader, another for a girl to wear a Cpap , but inevitably what comes up also is that anyone who can't see past the thing for a short time between romance (no machine on) and lights out...

Re: What mask should I try first?

A quick note on the Amara View. My first try with it was a no go due to leaks. It turned out to be the wrong size cushion, a large vs the medium I use now with good success. Hopefully they will have a sizing template at your dme when you go for your fitting. Good.Luck Yep, a big part of the YMMV is...
