Re: CPAP after surgery

I had trouble breathing when I first woke up from surgery. I don't think that's ever happened before. This was the first time I've had surgery in the abdominal area, so that might be a difference. It might be a good idea to take your machine even when you're having outpatient surgery. If I'd had it ...

P.S. Hope your surgery goes well and your recovery is speedy.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Thank you. It's gonna happen in a couple of hours. It's about time to leave for the hospital. Oddly, surgery doesn't seem to bother me as much as getting patted down in the airport. I foun...

Re: Anyone here had a septoplasty? (poll included)

I had one about ten years ago. That was before I even had a CPAC. I also had my adenoids out and the inside of my throat thinned. I don't think it helped. I had to get a CPAC machine.

Re: Does anyone have annual sleep studies?

Oh yikes. I don't think I still have a copy of the study that diagnosed me with apnea. I don't know if I could stand another study without a mask and with electrodes. Hope I don't change insurance.

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.

Hi Catnapper, I probably started developing sleep apnea around 1992. About the same time, I developed chronic fatigue and fibro-myalgia. I felt like I was about to collapse nearly all the time. I continued to work, but I could barely make it through the day and had to fight falling asleep on the way...

Re: Why is it necessary to have a support team?

My doctor is very good. I'm sure if I had more access to him, he could answer all questions. I get just 15 or 20 minutes about 3 times a year. He's even tried to establish a support group among his patients, probably for that very reason. I wasn't really looking for a support group when I stumbled o...

CPAP after surgery

I just got back from my preops. The anesthesiologist told me to wear my CPAP when I take after taking the pain pills because the pain meds will make the apnea even worse than usual and it will be more difficult to wake up when I stop breathing. I thought I'd pass that along because with past surgeri...

Re: How do I unjoin this site?

Does anyone have annual sleep studies?

A few weeks ago, someone from the sleep doctor's office called and wanted to schedule another sleep study for me. She said that because of new Medicare regulations that I would have to have annual sleep studies. I nearly came unglued because I hate sleep studies and thought that was all behind me. S...

Re: Question re: Leaks & Mouth Breathing

Sharon, if you have a machine that's capable of reporting full data, you can check the Leak Rate/System Leak to see if it's too high. Many CPAPs can report this via the machine's LCD screen. If you need help with that, I suggest that you fill out your Equipment Profile (via the User Control Panel o...

So Sharon1225 it's your call.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Of course, it's my call. There does not appear to be a way to delete one's name from the membership list, but I have discovered that there's some valuable information here. Also, there is a wonderful feature called the foe list.
