“Splint” in the sense to maintain a position. If it "maintained a position" and that "position" was it's normal (closed) with apnea, then cpap wouldn't do anything. Why am I even discussing this? Tell ya what, instead, argue with chicagogranny who says that (in defiance of all evidence) FFMs don't ...

Re: How often do you replace your humidifier chamber?
The DME is always wanting me to replace my humidifier chamber (and everything else). It seems like overkill to me. Even though I’ve never seen signs of my humidifier chamber needing to be replaced I’ve replaced it 2 times since I’ve had my machine (about 4 years). Unfortunately this morning when I ...

Yeah, sounds logical, but that seems to contradict the popular theory that the Pap can't expand a toy balloon at max pressure, so it would seem dubious that the Cpap pressure is sufficient to push the jaw forward. Well then, I guess CPAP doesn't do anything at all then, eh? Not even close… what I q...

Re: Airsense 11 humdifier fix?
Thank you. They aren't the same size, though. If filled to "max" line, the A10 has more space. As has been pointed out to you, you are MISTAKEN Reducing the humidifier capacity is in part how Resmed was able to reduce the size of the A11 slightly. Only, they didn't. Resmed S9, Air10 and (surprise) ...

Re: Faulty (?) Autoset AS10 - need advice
Can I use the machine without the humidifier, using that plastic seal side piece instead - at leas to see how the noise develops during the night? Should I try to buy a new humidifier, or should I start thinking of a new machine? The present one, which had a blower replaced during warranty is about...

I also use a Soclean unit after every use. ... I discovered black "hard" particles in the tank in addition to black "streaks" floating in the water. It has happened before, that black "fines" from the carbon filter (these were Soclean filters) were installed in the Soclean Machine. My question is, ...

Simple, if your airway is inflated, it can (depending on your individual anatomy) push your jaw forward as it expands. Yeah, sounds logical, but that seems to contradict the popular theory that the Pap can't expand a toy balloon at max pressure, so it would seem dubious that the Cpap pressure is su...

Re: 4 months in, horrible OA after changing from nasal to full face. Please help.
When using a nasal or pillow mask, the pressure can push your jaw a little forward which opens up your airway more. a FFM keeps the jaw pressed backwards, narrowing the airway. Not sure why the nasal would push the jaw forward, but a tight FFM could surely press the jaw towards the spine, unnecessa...

Re: 4 months in, horrible OA after changing from nasal to full face. Please help.
Some people simply need higher pressure when using a full face mask. Trying to imagine why that would be. Assuming equivalent leakage between nasal and FFM, why would additional pressure be required to achieve equivalent splinting? It has nothing to do with leaks. When using a nasal or pillow mask,...

Re: Airsense 10, ruptured eardrum due to water chamber
My guess is that the chamber wasn’t completely seated and caused a runaway pressure increase. No, what you describe * did not happen * All a improperly inserted water chamber will do is cause a loud leak. the machine *NEVER* "runs away". yes, it will blow more air, to compensate for the excessive l...
