Re: Overwhelmed & sidelined
I understand the frustration, and embarrassment that comes with the sleep apnea snoring, and more importantly the inconsistent breathing that has folks running away. I spent 22 years in the military with sleep apnea, often times in situations where I was supposed to have a roommate/tent mates as the...

Re: definition of flow limitation
Interesting stuff on flow limitations. I started on an S9 ASV machine a little less than two weeks ago and have been curious about what the flow limit chart means. My flow limitation graphs have quite a few peaks some nights. Compared to the Respironics 660 bipap I was using, the flow graphs are con...

Re: ASV Problems - Help
I just went from almost 4 months on a Bipap to switching to an ASV machine last week. Even the Bipap at 11/16 would sometimes have leaks shooting air into my eyes with my Resmed Quattro full face mask. With the ASV, it's just as you described. I tried the mask liners, and they kept it from blowing i...

Re: New Here - Suspect I Have OSA (Story Inside)
Since you mentioned roommates, have you asked them if you appear to have sleep apnea? I ask, because I knew I had it back in the 70's when I went through basic training. The bunk mates near me complained about the snoring, and said the periods where I would stop breathing then gasp made it worse. Th...

Re: HOSE LENGTH?
How about if your titration was done on a machine with a hose that was obviously longer than 6 foot. While I didn't measure it, I would guess the hose used during my sleep study would have to have been at least 10 foot. If I'm using a shorter hose than used in the lab does that make my prescription ...

Re: HOSE LENGTH?
Hope it isn't thread hijacking to tag on the the OPs question, but would it affect things in a negative way if you used a two foot regular sized extension in conjunction with a 6 foot slimline hose, leaving the S9 ASV machine set to the slimline setting? I too find the hose just a little short when ...

Re: I did receive the S9 vpap adapt asv with auto Epap
I got the same machine last week and have used it 4 nights now. So far I feel great and my AHI numbers seem about as good as you can get. As for comfort, I found the Bipap with the fixed pressures seemed more comfortable and easy to sleep with. It was steady, consistent and easy for me to adapt to. ...

Re: Struggling Newbie
I'm only 4 months or so into this, but I found the folks on this forum to be a great support team. I'm still playing with my mask. The only one I can get to seal well tends to trash my nose because I have to tighten is way up. I buy the large bulk moleskin sheets and make nose bridges to help there....

Re: PR System One Heated Humidifier Wattage
I used Kill-a-watt. I don't have a clamp-on ammeter except for a Klein but it only does AC. No help. I guess I could have done it with some alligators and probes but I did not expect the difference to be so substantial. I have added a couple of things to my lore book in the process. Thanks. Interes...

Re: PR System One Heated Humidifier Wattage
You didn't mention how you are measuring the wattage. As mentioned, the rating is for output. The input wattage will be higher and won't necessarily match the VA value because of the power factor and of course power loss of the ac to dc conversion process. I've seen the brick type power supplies hav...

SeekSleep: Your are evidently a real problem solver and seem to almost revel in CPAP/ASV challenges and successfully overcoming them. I don't have any doubts that you'll have good news to report to us in the upcoming months. Again, thanks to all for the positive support. You guys make this easy wit...

Re: How difficult to adapt to asv
Once again, thanks everyone for the encouragement, support, and great ideas. When I started this, I kind of thought the sleep apnea thing was a scam, and I had pretty much gotten used to the headaches, and being tired all the time. I had a lot of little routines I would go through to keep myself awa...

Re: Bummer. Lost Quattro Air
I surprised at how many seem to find the USPS significantly less reliable than the other well know carriers. From work we ship an awful lot of stuff from small stuff in envelopes to things requiring there own flatbed truck. Seems no matter who we use, the loss and damage rates are pretty much the sa...

Re: power supply for camping trip
Thank you - will be in a motor home with generator but told generator will not run all night. Thanks for the input - I will research further on line. Since you'll be in an RV, things should be a lot easier. You probably won't have to buy a battery, as the RV will have a 12vdc battery system to keep...

Re: How difficult to adapt to asv
Thanks for the encouragement Nate. I'm pretty much doing a happy dance today. I did wake up about 5 times last night during the 9.6 hours I was on the machine. Two of those times I have no idea why I woke up, the other 3 had nothing to do with sleep apnea, but instead because I have two old dogs one...
