thank you for the replies......mikebear, what in the end helped you get over it....was it just lowering your pressure settings....
ALL of what I posted above, and time... Lowering the pressure until I had it almost beat was the biggest part of getting over it.

Re: It's Not Always Acid Reflux!

I have read and read and read all the comments from people desperate for help for sore throats with CPAP, only to be told repeatedly that it's acid reflux, it's not a real problem with the machine. Add more water, turn up the humidifier, heat the humidifier, clean your tubes, on and on and on the c...

Re: Took off the Humidifier

I have been having a cough since I got on the CPAP machine about a month ago. I went to the doctor and had a mild case of broncidis (I can't spell). It has not cleared up so I took off the humidifier in hopes of having a dryer air for a few days and see what happens. It just seems to me that to muc...

Re: Aerophagia Part 2

I lowered pressure for a while, fixed my chronic leaks with my new Airfit P10 (wore a soft collar to keep my mouth shut) and started taking a 14 day course of Nexium. I normally take Pepcid every night as I have GERD, but needed the PPI method with Nexium to knock this one out. It took me more than ...

Re: THE GREAT PILLOW EXCHANGE

Anybody got a new Resmed Mirage Swift II large pillow or two they don't need? This is my fall-back mask I still need to use at times while I'm getting things tweaked. I can trade Airfit P10 small pillows, or Dreamwear nasal "hole" cushions, or 1 Dreamwear medium sized Gel pillow (which will fit on t...

Re: Tips for a newbie with nasal congestion and nasal pillows

Thanks Julie for the response. I was not clear. I get allergy flare ups at various times of the year, and I can tell because the roof of my mouth starts to itch. I have the climate control set to auto and its been very comfortable for the past 60 days, but this morning I realized allergy congestion...

Please be aware that buying a CPAP without a prescription is illegal because it threatens our society.
You mean it threatens the ability for DME's to scam yet another insurance company out of a $1,000+ for a $200 Cpap machine...

Re: setting up old machine for wife

Set the machine to FIXED cpap mode, pressure of 6 EPR 1. She probably woke up because her pressures went too high.

See what happens. I'll bet the majority of CA's will vanish. If so, you can go from there after you see what happens with that for a few nights.

Re: Buying used machines?

Dang it. Nevermind on that particular machine. She just got back to me and let me know it has been sold. :( But the questions still stand. I am still looking for that particular machine locally. You need to grab cheap ones like that VERY fast. It'll probably go back for sale at $300 by the person w...

Re: 2 months sore & dry mouth tried more humidity, tape, chin strap

Question along these lines... is it possible to be mouth breathing / opening your mouth regularly and have a 0 leak rate or would your mouth opening always be reflected in the leak rate? I have similar issues to the OP and thought it could come from opening my mouth (also a tooth grinder) but my le...

Re: AIRFIT P10 mask straps HURT!

Thanks Pugsy. I love the velcro idea but I'm concerned I will still feel the bump. I haven't had any surgery but my scalp seems to be super sensitive for some reason. I read one post suggesting velco to keep straps in place if they slide on your hair. This might solve another problem I have. I could...

Re: Has PAP therapy helped anyone with night terrors?

I don't know a solution for you, BUT, melatonin CAUSES night terrors/extremely vivid dreams if I take it... I would not be using that particular drug at all to try to resolve your issues. If you use your cpap machine correctly, and actually get productive therapy from it, I'd suspect it'll resolve y...

Re: Newbie from Denver. How long to get used to a cpap machine?

A few hours after you make up your mind you will make this new life with XPAP will work for you, and get it set up correctly by using the data to do it correctly. Getting your mind correct is one of the biggest problems , other things can be overcome with effort and a little time. Jim I will agree ...

Re: Newbie from Denver. How long to get used to a cpap machine?

I just spent since Christmas getting used to my brand new Airsense 10 Autoset machine. That's after I've already been on cpap therapy for the last 20 YEARS with another machine (which was a brick, so I had no feedback other than the way I felt subjectively after using it each night). The Autoset mac...
