Re: Thinking of a cruise for our anniversary - problems??

I have been on 23 cruises, four or five since starting on CPAP including Princess. First you will not have any issues with power compatibility. Cruise ships see many CPAP machines on probably every cruise since most cruisers, especially on longer or out of the country cruises, are older and more li...

Re: Hiatal Hernia Causing Aerophagia?

I have a small HH and do not have aerophagia. A guestion not a statement, but is aerophagia more a problem for mouth breathers vs. nose breathers? I am a nose breather and use a pillow mask. Any connection?

Re: How much time to fall asleep

For me, 30 to 60 minutes if I am lucky. Never have been a quick to sleep person, seldom get more than 7 hours of sleep, and never take naps. I would love to be able to fall asleep in less than 30 minutes. Not a CPAP issue, it has not changed sleeping times. ====== do you wait until you are sleepy b...

Re: Are any of you also on Apneaboard?

I am a member of both Boards, but prefer this one. The Apnea Board is "non-profit", which restricts what can be posted (for one, no posts with links to sites that may have some commercial content buried within it). I have been dinged twice for accidentally breaking this rule. The "non-profit" rule c...

Re: Interpreting AHI

Remember that the calculated AHI is the total number of apnea events (of all types) divided by the hours of sleep (including the fraction of an hour). These two numbers when divided can, and usually do, lead to odd AHI numbers. A couple things to keep in mind. 1) You have no choice but to accept tha...

Re: The Absurdity of Shopping for CPAP Equipment

I am sure that most folks on this Board know that the owner's of cpaptalk.com have a B&M store in Stafford,TX (next door to Houston). It was very helpful seeing XPAP machinces side-by-side when I bought my ResMed machine. A picture may be worth a 1,000 words, but actually seeing what you are buying ...

Re: Is any body happy with cpap

I would love to hear about it if you have gotten past all the problems and are a happy snoozer. TY. I love it. Before CPAP I used to wake up 2-3 nights and go to the bathroom. Don't know the correlation between that and CPAP, but now I go to sleep at night and wake up in the morning. Nothing in bet...

Can Vitamin D Improve Sleep?

Below is an article/study that shows the results of how sleep is either improved, or not, by increasing Vitamin D supplementation. It is well worth the time to read the study results. https://examine.com/nutrition/can-supplemental-vitamind-improve-sleep/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_ca...

Re: Amitriptyline experiences anyone

My husband had back problems and I had shoulder problems. His was fixed by outpatient surgery; mine was helped by physical therapy. [[[PITA, but totally worth it.]]] IMHO, drugs should only be used as a last resort. They open a Pandora's box of nasty things . . . I think that you are opening the wr...

Re: Amitriptyline experiences anyone

10 mg is a lot and it's good that you only took half... I know neurologists who felt that patients prescribed Elavil (ami..) for pain became depressed on it and prescribed something else when possible. 10 mg is not a lot, it is the bare minimum. It was originally developed and prescribed as an anti...

Re: Amitriptyline experiences anyone

I have taken amitriptyline for both sleep, and more recently, to reduce chronic nerve pain. Several years ago I took 10 mg at night for sleep and it worked great; no noticeable side effects at all. A few years later a new doctor got the great idea that one of the new sleep medications (Ambien, Lunes...

Re: what does a sleep study cost

Mine cost $30. Somehow my doctor billed the insurance company as an "office visit". The really weird part was that between the sleep study and what would have been my follow up visit, my doctor got ObamaCare'ed and I never saw him again (2 1/2 years ago now).
