CPAP rhinitis?

This is a concept I came across last night. I suspect it might apply to me. Two or three weeks ago I had what I first thought was a streaming cold, then decided it was hayfever, although I hadn't had it for years, but it didn't respond to the three antihistamines and two nasal sprays that I tried. M...

Re: Chin strap, leaks and AHI

One week on and I just have to report back. Everything is still a bit leaky but no worse than before. However, at last I am definitely beginning to feel the benefit of being on CPAP. The difference over the last few days is amazing! I've been rushing around actively from morning till night and still...

Re: Chin strap, leaks and AHI

So your report of sleeping and feeling better is hugely important to me because without sleeping and feeling better any nice low leak numbers really don't mean squat do they. My thoughts exactly! :D There's more to a good night's sleep than just breathing. And some of my low numbers disguised the f...

Re: Chin strap, leaks and AHI

Thank you Pugsy. That's very helpful and encouraging. :D My husband has told me this morning that I was breathing out of the corners of my mouth during the night so I'm pretty sure that's where the leaks are coming from. Obviously they have got worse since I took off the chinstrap. Here are last nig...

Chin strap, leaks and AHI

A few nights ago I abandoned my chin strap as the combination of chin strap and nasal mask was very uncomfortable and made it impossible to sleep on my side. I had also been using a bit of tape to keep my lips closed and I thought that would be sufficient to stop me mouth breathing as it's strong st...

Re: Nasal passages closing

I'm interested to see whether you find an answer to this as I have exactly the same problem with the nose unpredictably closing, eg. when I lie down, when I turn over, sometimes partially blocked, sometimes fully blocked, sometimes fully open. I was thinking of asking the doctor to see what the caus...

Re: CPAP and Cold Weather Camping

I'm interested in what you discover as I camp year round. The last time I camped was in January, in my hammock, before I started CPAP. The lowest temperatures I encounter are around freezing or a few degrees below. Obviously colder temperatures affect battery performance but I hadn't thought about c...

Re: What happened to my data?

When we travel, I do not take my lap top with me. It's bad enough taking luggage, two bilevel machines, and a nebulizer machine. I'm traveling by train as I had to surrender my driving licence when I was diagnosed, therefore I'm limited in what I can carry. Not that I would have taken the laptop an...

Re: What happened to my data?

Correct. I have my CPAP machine but no laptop so I can't look at the data card results.

Re: What happened to my data?

I'll check that when I get home. I'm on holiday at the moment without my laptop. There was just time to look at the results yesterday morning before I had to go for my train. I tried to post yesterday as I'd had an idea, but it doesn't seem to have posted. Anyway, I remembered that I had checked to ...

Re: What happened to my data?

There's a huge blank in last night's data. As far as I know the machine was working. Any idea what might have happened? screenshot-20180321-054320.png Are you sure you dont have some sessions turned off in SleepyHead? If you scroll down on the screen you posted it should list the sessions on the le...

Re: Should be sleeping, but ...

Hi SarahB, Have you thought about raising your min pressure a bit? When I look at your data I don't see it up at 20. When you start out, or stop in the middle of the night, you go down to your min pressure. Currently at 6. It was that bit around 3am where I had woken up and for some reason turned o...

Re: Should be sleeping, but ...

Wow! So much advice! Thank you all. :D Yesterday I popped into the supermarket and bought an oxymetazoline nasal spray and some Breathe Right nasal strips. I used them both last night and it was amazing! Just to be lying there taking in air through my nose - both sides at once! - without any effort ...
