Re: Obesity and Apnea
My understanding is there is a strong correlation between obesity and sleep apnea. I talked with a surgeon once, and he felt my apnea was related to my obesity, and until I handled that, any surgery would not do much good. I saw a sleep specialist and he said half his patients hate him and half lov...

Re: Cpap altitude adjustment
I just go back from a trip the South Dakota. Here at home my altitude is 465 feet. In South Dakota the altitude was 4000 feet. This is the first time I traveled with the cpap where the altitude changed so drastically. I have been using a cpap at least 30 years. My normal episodes run around 1 or 2 ...

Re: Water in mask
I use a DreamStation Auto BiPAP machine with humidifier with a heated hose. I use a Resmed Airfit N20 nasal mask. I fill the humidifier with distilled water, set the humidifier setting to 3 (of 5), set the heated hose to 4 (of 5). I wake up with lots of droplets of water in the mask. I'm amazed I'm...

Re: Initial AutoPAP Range for Beginner
I'm amazed at how many people THINK they need to run their autoPAPs in ranges of pressures.......when a single/fixed pressure just might be the solution to good therapy and sleep.
If you haven't tried it, maybe you should. it MIGHT be the answer you're lookng for.

Re: Is CPAP a scam of sorts? - my story
Zombie thread alert folks . WOW! I GUESS SO!!! "I see/(saw) dead people"`....... (that was the clue) But, to those who are stupid enough to think it is a scam......there are MILLIONS of us users who KNOW it is NOT! I had a stupid sleep doctor, too, but I immediately took control of my own therapy a...

Re: ResMed Air Sense 10 won't power up
Your reply is spot on. I am embarrassed to admit it, but the problem was a loose connection at the brick. I am embarrassed bc I am a 22-year retired Aviation Electrician, USN. Been troubleshooting electrical problems all my life. The brick has a shroud around it where the plug connects, so the phys...

Re: CPAP refill system for humidifier
Estimate that I will have to refill about once a week. Would seem easier to just top off the tank every night??? I have no idea how much time it took to put that contraption together, but with my old Legacy humidifier tank which holds over 400 ml, and using cool, passover humidification (which mean...

Not only is this why many of us have backup machineS ( multiple) but we also plug them into battery backup UPSes.

Re: Trying to get supplies from HMO nightmare
I have been on CPAP therapy for over seventeen years and I purchased my initial setup and supplies from CPAP.Com which my PPO insurance provider reimbursed me for 80% of the cost. Ever since then, I have purchased EVERY machine and ALL of my supplies "out-of-pocket". Some from private individuals an...

Re: cool the hot summer cpap air by freezing humidifier ?
Now with hot humid weather id like to cool the air instead of heat it as in winter. I have the humidifier turned off as i dont need or want it on now. I experimented with putting only some mini ice cubes in water container and leaving the humidifier off. THis still somehow added more unneeded and u...

Re: Do you have a back up CPAP incase of emergencies?
I have been on my cpap (ResMed 10) for about 6 months now, and I can honestly say that I am so happy that I finally did this. I have become so used to the machine that I probably wouldn't be able to sleep without it anymore. It's a new machine so I know it will work for a long time. But it got me t...
