Re: Storing Cpap Machine

I put my backups in their carrying bags and place them in the bottom of my closet. I also put a piece of paper in each one with the date I bought it and how long I used it. I have two airsense 10's. One is almost new and the other is several years older, so gives me an idea which is which. Sheriff ...

Re: Storing Cpap Machine

I used to keep my backup in my car trunk in its case most of the year. We've had to evacuate from wildfires twice beginning in 2017 when wildfires took 4000 homes in my town in one night. Fortunately, we had time before we had to evacuate each time. Some people had as little as 5 minutes warning and...

Re: Sore

So I woke up with a sore filled with pus on my cheek. It’s where my mask sits. I’m going to assume this is a pressure sore from my nightmares. Maybe where my mask rubs my face during my nightmares because I do make sure my mask is sanitized every morning. And I just changed meds and my nightmares c...

either laqueen has figured it out or forgotten they've asked the question.

hasn't been back for a week.
Maybe a drive by. Or maybe she just didn't have anything else to say. I like that better than a "yes butter"

Re: Insurance

There is another choice: part D , but NEITHER part B nor C. My part B plan f supplement was totally ripping us off. Paying the deductibles and the 20% copay is way less than the premiums were. Too bad Medicare allowables vs "msrp" is such a damn secret! This is true, sometimes it is less expensive ...

Re: Smart watches and sleep apnea ?

IMO, there is something that we're not accounting for and that's the possibility of artifact readings. I don't think that the AW can give an artifact reading. If for any reason during the 15 seconds something is not right, the entire report of blood oxygen level fails, and it's not recorded. I beli...

Re: Insurance

When your husband leaves his job, it sounds like you will be losing your Employer Group Health Plan which currently supplements your Medicare. That qualifies as a "change in circumstance" and you will be eligible to get a new Medicare supplement policy (Medi-gap) under a "special enrollment period" ...

Re: Smart watches and sleep apnea ?

Y'all are conveniently ignoring an actual scientific review of published studies https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10039641/#:~:text=The%20mean%20spO2%20measured,conventional%20oximeter%20measurements%20was%200.993. But why let established controlled studies get in the way of bias? I gue...

Re: Smart watches and sleep apnea ?

Long ago, I had the good fortune to have a step counter that was very waterproof. And the bad luck to leave it in my pocket, where it was washed. Yes, it was fooled--a lot! It had over a week's worth of steps that afternoon. The step counter on my Apple Watch gives me credit for knitting. Whe...

Not an expert, but keto has a profound and positive metabolic effect. Glad to hear it's working well for you.

Re: Smart watches and sleep apnea ?

I have an Apple Watch with a blood oxygen monitor, and I don't think I can count on it for accuracy. Trending, perhaps, but I question even that. It did seem to tell a story when I experienced some altitude sickness while visiting Sant Fe, NM, but I'm not positive the readings were particularly accu...

Re: Sleep apnea good some nights, bad others. Any ideas?

You might look on Amazon for a recording pulse oximeter. You can get a decent one for around $30. I found that helpful when my sleep was not so great--the numbers on my machine looked OK, but I was having some desaturations into the 80's. Bumping up the pressure helped.

Re: Teeth Problems

Despite others responding here with knee-jerk reactions, if you are breathing through your mouth while using CPAP, a dry mouth can definitely cause tooth decay. https://www.ada.org/en/resources/research/science-and-research-institute/oral-health-topics/xerostomia The problem isn't CPAP (which is sav...

Re: Pressure Adjustments and Insurance Coverage

A DME will tell you that to scare you. They can bill for adjusting your machine when required by a doctor's prescription. So you may taking money out of the DME's pocket. I wouldn't feel too sorry for them. There is no CPAP police. The only issue is if you don't meet your insurer's compliance requir...
