Re: Desperate and having no luck!
I developed allergies late in life, but they are bad enough to completely swell my eyes closed at night sometimes, trigger asthmatic breathing, and make me miserable to put it mildly. I've been on the desensitization shots for 5 years now, and they help a great deal but I still need meds/steroids. I...

Re: Switching ASV's?
I have the latest version of the S9 ASV and go through the same thing. When I was on a Bipap, I actually slept really well, and the machine seemed to be almost relaxing. The problem was, while I slept, it wasn't constantly good. My ASV machine tends to fight me when I'm transitioning in to sleep, an...

Re: Compliance - why only 4 hours?
For a lot of folks, life just works out to where getting much more than four hours of sleep some nights just isn't possible. I know in my younger military years, there were lots of times when getting 4 hours a night seemed awfully good. Even now, I don't get in bed without my mask, yet still find li...

Re: ASV vs CPAP - and the winner is...
In my case the ASV machine made a significant difference to how I felt, and to all of the stuff the doctor looked at like blood 02 Levels. Under CPAP the couldn’t get my AHI below 40 or so and my blood 02 level remained in the 70 percent range during the sleep study under the best pressures they tri...

Re: Just Got a CC Charge from Apria!
I had nothing but trouble with Apria, to the point I pretty much think company policy drives the issues rather than mistakes, or any honest problem. I too have dual insurance and shouldn't ever have to pay anything. They would continually send me a bill saying the insurance company said I owed that ...

Re: Are central apneas worse on back?
When I was on the bipap, I never saw anything in my data that indicated sleep position affected my centrals. I would get quite a few often in a cluster when falling asleep and waking up. The other clusters seemed to correspond with the sleep level I was in. Unfortunately, my S9 Vpap adapt asv doesn'...

Re: For those that do not know I'm self treating my apnea.
I canceled my insurance last year when I signed up with the VA. I got tired of paying 600.00+ a month for insurance. And I will ask for a home study. Myself, I’d stick with the private insurance. While having my so called free for life medical care via the VA, or Tricare is better than nothing, I h...

Re: For those that do not know I'm self treating my apnea.
Your graphs look pretty good to me. I know with my central apnea, it showed up in my first sleep study in the results prior to their trying me on a cpap to reduce the obstructive apneas I also had. The pressure from the CPAP actually resulted in more CA's so I had to come back for another sleep stud...

Re: What Do You Think of BMI?
I was hospitalized for 3 days in 1987 when a combination of a long training day (collapsed 8 miles into a run right after 111 miles on a bicycle) resulted in dehydration, so you dont think it was the dehydration which caused the collapse then .. threw my heart into rhythm fits, and messed my blood ...

Re: What Do You Think of BMI?
Having alternated between bodybuilding and endurance exercise on a hard core level for most of the last 40 years I don’t think very highly of BMI calculations, or nutrition “Science” for that matter either. I’ve spent way to much money on assorted books on the subject over the years, and while there...

Re: Back to worse than square 1
Is there any way you can try self-hypnosis or guided meditation? So far the bio feedback self hypnosis type thing has come the closest to working for me, but the inability to focus or concentrate I'm experiencing make it difficult. I initially learned somewhat how to do that sort of stuff some 30 p...

Re: Back to worse than square 1
Thanks JDS74. I too liked my 60 series Bipap, and still have the humidifier for it. I never had any issues sleeping with it, but then again, it responded to the way I wanted to breath. My S9 ASV machine tends to be very insistent as to when I breathe, how much I breath, and it doesn't take no for an...

Re: High pressure, High AHI and High leaks. What's a guy to do?
During your titration study did they say whether or not you had central apneas? The type of events driving your AHI score makes a big difference in how you should go about trying to correct the issues. If you could post a chart of your data it would make it easier to help.

Re: Depression
I went backwards in this area. Easily adapted initially, but had no depression type issues at that time either. Now, depression, along with numerous other clinical diagnosis have contributed to my no longer being tolerant of the machine. As a result, I'd have to say there is a clear correlation betw...

Back to worse than square 1
My initial start into the mask head world went quite easily. After two sleep studies I started on a Bipap, which I adapted to quite easily, then another titration and I rolled over to an S9 VPAP ADAPT (ASV) due to centrals. The ASV machine wasn't as easy to adjust too as the bipap, but it wasn't a m...
