Re: New or Used Machine?

When I received my first CPAP from Apria, we found that it was too noisy. After 1 week they exchanged it for me. Perhapps these trial/exchanges are cleaned up and re-sold.

Re: Pneumonia and CPAP

Right side is bad if you are refluxing. If you look at a diagram of your anatomy, you will see that the esophagus enters the stomach on the right. If you lay on your right side, acid from the stomach can leak into the esophagus. If you lay on your lefty side, any acid in the esophagus drains into th...

Re: CPAP & Sleeping Tablets

For general sleeping problems, my GP suggested low dose amitriptyline (elavil). I took it during my first 7-10 days with the CPAP without any problems.

What's with the air bubbles?

Often I wake up during the night and feel a few air bubbles popping in my mouth. What's that all about?
Generally I fall asleep pretty quickly but often wake up aboout 4-5AM to go to the bathroom. If I can't get back to sleep within 20-30 minutes I take off the mask.

Re: did dme give wrong machine??

I originally got the Remstar..it is a very nice unit...BUT, it is very loud. Neither I nor my wife could get to sleep, even with the ramp. I exchanged it for the Fischer & Paykel which is VERY quiet. I'm a happy camper.

Re: Apria

I also had a good experience with Apria (MIlwaukee). They were very cooperative. My first CPAP was too noisey and they exchanged it for a quieter one. The prices they charge are higher than buying on the internet, but they give you personal service. Also...if insurance/Medicare is involved, they do ...

CPAP settings

What pressure are most people using...my CPAP is set at 7...doctor says that this is ok for me. It sounds low from what I have been reading here. I don't think I can adjust mine by myself...???
