Be sure the air filters are in place properly. If air is going around the filters, you'd get dust and whatever else is in the air into the water and it might encourage mold growth.

Wrap it in cloth, then put it in a plastic bag with uncooked rice. That will help it dry out.

Whether the unit will work after being dried out is another question.

Sleeping on your stomach or side might help.

Consider the possibility that you're allergic to something other than the mask. Are you allergic to something you use in the cleaning process?
