Re: First Sleep Dr. visit after starting CPAP
LSAT, No DME and Dr. are not affiliated. The Dr. does supply machines and cpap supplies from his office but he told me that it was against Medicare rules for Dr. to also be the DME so he gave me one near my home. When I told him what the DME's schedule for supplies was he sort of got mad and his co...

Re: [Jay] MD help with work-up of poor sleep and fatigue
Sonnyboy, In my newsfeed this morning this article listing 27 health items associated with Vitamin D3 deficiency came up and I thought of you. These items are associated with Vitamin D3 deficiency not necessarily caused by it. The "normal" blood range for D3 is considered to be 30 to 100ngl/ml; how...

Re: Seizure from a blocked CPAP mask?
Which Resmed machine and does it monitor data? Sleepyhead is a free software that lets you monitor cpap treatment. Would be helpful to know what his data showed before this episode occurred. Find out if his machine is data capable, if so download sleepyhead and start monitoring treatment. Yes it is...

Re: Seizure from a blocked CPAP mask?
Re: RT That's great! Let us know what you find out. If there is an SD card in the machine you can take a look yourself, using Sleepyhead, and post the graph on this forum. Consider downloading sleepyhead so you can learn to monitor the treatments. You will learn a lot and you will be happy you did t...

Re: Seizure from a blocked CPAP mask?
Hi, New to this forum - hope some of you can help. My son recently suffered a seizure that the docs stated could have resulted from a blocked vent on a Quattro CPAP mask. My question: is this even possible? Aren't there safety precautions built into a mask to prevent this from happening? When he wa...

Re: Mysterious arousals, not caused by apneas or flow limitation
But, for those Airsense 10 reports "sandwiched" in between the P/R System One reports, the AHI is worse than those with the System One. which has absolutely nothing to do with the subject at hand. I see, just conveniently ignore facts that don't fit into your worldview... and then change the subjec...

Re: [Jay] MD help with work-up of poor sleep and fatigue
The sleep doctors [the two that I have seen] act like I'm doing something wrong when they hear I change pressures with forum help. The ordered Stanford titration did not bother me because the clinic wants to test the effect of different machines but the repeat titration the new sleep doctor ordered...

Re: [Jay] MD help with work-up of poor sleep and fatigue
I've always thought of EPR as a comfort measure and not much else. Pressures have never been a conscious problem for me. As far as I know I am breathing fine and my CO2 and O2 levels are fine, no objective tests I am aware of have shown otherwise. Given doctors have hypothesized I may have a hypove...

Re: [Jay] MD help with work-up of poor sleep and fatigue
Little tip - AHI tends to go up a bit when on EPR, so don't imagine something else is wrong if that happens... it's generally not a jump, but just a bit of difference. for Sonnyboy: EPR is a deceptively complicated thing, it *looks* really simple, but it's behavior can be complex. EPR reduces press...

Re: [Jay] MD help with work-up of poor sleep and fatigue
Hi Jay,
Thanks for your note. I'm starting with diet and exercise. I need to lose 20-25 pounds which is significant at 5'. Mask leaks are not a problem now and bloating has never been a problem but I did increase the EPR to 2 last night will leave it like that for a few days and see what happens.
