Re: Machine only says an hour and a half?

Is your machine set to the correct time zone? After 12:00 is counted as a new day...your 4 hours after 12noon could be reported as 2 hours if your machine is not set correctly. How do you change the time zone or time on a ResMed 10 Autoset? Can't find it for looking in the clinical menu. I am in Ca...

Re: Mouth Taping

Anyone tried medical silicone tape for mouth taping? I use it to protect against mask pressure sores on the bridge of my nose, it adheres really well to skin but easy to peel off, I re-use it several times before replacing. In the UK there's a product called Siltape, it comes in 2 different widths,...

Re: Back pain from new CPAP use??

Saw the doctor today, it's muscular - probably pulled it playing squash. He did a urine test to make sure, but no infection or blood. So I just have to do some specific daily exercises and paracetamol if needed, no more squash until it heals but at least it's nothing serious :D

Re: Back pain from new CPAP use??

Thanks for your observations, it may or may not be CPAP related, it could be stones although never had the pleasure of those before, it could be any number of things. So yes, I'll get it checked out by my doctor asap.

Re: Back pain from new CPAP use??

I'm not new to CPAP but have been experiencing lower back pain recently, started a couple of weeks ago when I'd just get a muscular twang if I moved in a certain way after getting out of bed, felt like I was going to put my back out. Now it's a dull ache across the whole of my middle back, feels a b...

Re: What should I share from Sleepyhead?

I finally did it. I ordered a cheap tongue restraining device, suctioned it to my tongue, and crammed the bulb under a full face mask. I wore a foam cervical collar and a weighted backpack and set my pressure to 16-20. I got this bitch down to 0.3 events per hour. My lips are numb, my tongue is on ...

Re: What should I share from Sleepyhead?

+1 The data is important but it's easy for us to become obsessed with it. I keep thinking though that if your pressure is so high, it could be disturbing your sleep. Possibly better to have a lower pressure with a slightly raised AHI but a less disruptive rest. For me, it's all about getting the rig...

Re: What should I share from Sleepyhead?

I'm attempting to reduce a variable, usually high nightly AHI of 1.6-5.9. Why do you feel this AHI range is high? Most people have variable AHI but anything under 5.0 is considered treated. What's your average? I have occasional bad and exceptionally good nights, I'd say my AHI range was 0.5-5.5 bu...

Re: Nasal passages closing

You may want to try some eucalyptus oil on a cotton bud next to machine's air intake, works for me when I'm a bit congested.

Why not let them find out for themselves if anything needs changing?
Ultimately they will, just addressing the OP's comment that they cannot achieve as good AHI with a FFM and trying to offer some guidance. Learning and helping is what this forum is all about, I think :?

Re: Nasal passages closing

if it takes for instance 12 to open your airway, that doesn't change if you switch masks. It does in my experience. If you take a hose pipe and restrict the water flow by pinching the end, you'll get higher pressure. If you're using a larger mask you'll need a higher setting to achieve the same res...

Re: Nasal passages closing

Have the same issue - fighting it all the time. Luckily one nostril will remain open when the other one closes up! But the congestion can give me a headache. Don't know what the answer is - I use all kinds of products which help temporarily and some days are better than others. Since I'm not sick, ...

Re: Nasal passages closing

Bare in mind that you will likely need to increase your pressures with a FFM to achieve the same AHI as a nasal mask or pillows.
