Re: Ontario ODSP and CPAP's covered

Hi I live in Brockville Ontario, and just went threw the whole over night sleep study thing in Kingston. I do not have a CPAP as of yet, but have an appointment to get 1 on Feb 19 2009 this thursday. My question is for anyone who is on ODSP. when you went to get your CPAP what unit did you get? did...

Re: Another newbie from Canadia

Hi from another newly-diagnosed, now SLEEPING Ontarian. The ADP will cover 75% of the *approved* price for a CPAP or APAP machine. I just spoke to my supplier on Monday - the approved price for an APAP is higher than the approved price for a CPAP (or so they say), so the amount paid for an APAP is ...

Re: Power Outage Plans

For the second night in a week we lost power all night. I don't do well without my cpap. Not well at all. With all the time to think about what would work best, I worked out the following idea. Using alligator clips similar to the ones on a battery jumper cable, connect either car battery (or the l...

Re: Advice - Caribbean - Humidifier needed?

I made a sign that said, "do not move this machine" in big letters and left it on top of my machine when we went to NOLA earlier this year. Worked for me. Good idea! I'll have to make mine in Spanish tho for the Dominican. I just got back from the Dominican on Sunday. I was in a resort at Punta Can...

For the record, I'm in Toronto. Everything you've read in this thread is correct. OHIP pays a max of 75% for a basic machine and mask. You must buy from a supplier that's on their list. I lucked into a sympathetic sleep doctor who agreed to prescribe an APAP for me. He has to fill out additional pap...

I too am running vista and have had no luck installing the Encore.. Well, not quite true. I had it all running just fine until the next day when the drivers were lost in no where computer land. Now, I cannot even uninstall because somewhere it lost part of that feature. I am now going to have to re...

Ok. To follow up on my own post, I finally got it working. For those who are interested, the CPAP.com web site specifically states that "This product is only the SmartCard Reader. EncoreViewer 1.0 is required to download and analyze data from the SmartCard. The picture shows driver software for the ...

How do you Install Encore Viewer and Card Reader Under Vista

There's been several threads related to this subject, but I've yet to see an answer to the question: how do you install encore viewer and the card reader when Vista is your operating system? It seems that there's no driver for the card reader for windows. The answer to this oft-asked question should...

I had trouble voting with the given choices. I've had two DME's and in the end , voted on the basis of my experience with my first DME. I rated it a less than a used car saleman type. My second DME is typical of any other business - SO FAR (I've only been there once; my opinion may change with time)...

[quote="guest21"]I travel with business associates and would like to keep my medical issues private. There is no respect for this concern. Frequently TSA yells out, "Cpap!" I feel that my rights are being violated.

I'm confused by all of this. Exactly what is it that they are looking for in a CPAP that they consider could be a risk. Like zorrro13 said, a BOMB or any potential weapon(s). Ok. But why single out CPAPs? They don't appear to be swabbing everything. Why are they not also swabbing whatever else migh...

Exactly what/where are they swabbing? Surface? humidifier tank? Hose? Mask?

Did any of you ask that they use clean gloves?
