Driving me insane

Post by MaxINTJ » Fri Sep 08, 2017 12:33 pm

OK, so my sleep study and my CPAP data both agree I do not have OSA. I had a sleep tech look at my CPAP data and he didn't know what was going on. It's looking like it's probably not UARS either.

It is definitely some sort of SDB based on the studies, the data, the techs, and some experienced folks here. I manage to get REALLY crappy sleep but have NOT managed to get a diagnosis.

It makes it very difficult to look forward to a "cure" when I don't even know what's supposed to be cured!

So far, the CPAP has not improved the quality of my sleep. The only thing noticeable is that I don't wake up 4-5 times in the night (that I remember) thinking it's morning, but I'm not even sure that's an improvement. After my 1st sleep study they asked how many times I woke up and I said 2. Truth was, I underestimated by 20. 22 awakenings in 6 hours, 90% of which I had no recollection.

I already have a medical issue (not sleep related at all) for which I have had every possible test and exam only to have the doctors throw their hands up in the air and say "we don't know what's causing it" and label it idiopathic. That's fine for them, they can wash their hands and be done with it. I am the one that has to live with it knowing nothing can be done. I sure don't need to never ever get sleep again and be told there's nothing that can be done.

Grrrrrrr.....

I'm giving points to anyone who can suggest a possible diagnosis.

Extra points if you can Identify the breed of my puppy in the picture lol

LOL, that he is! Just a big teddy bear.

But, unfortunately, Biglovable is not a recognized breed lol

Been there, done that.

BTW, is your keyboard missing both Shift keys, or do you just not know that the beginning of a sentence should be capitalized?

Anatolian Shepherd?

Are you on any medications? This is a long shot, but I recently found that a medication was causing sleep problems for me.. but only when using the extended release version. I did not notice that I was sleeping any differently, but the daytime problems were really terrible (I was actually suffering) and getting worse each day.

I was told that I may not need the medication if cpap was successful, so had switched to the non-extended release version and that is when I found out that it had been the meds (the very next day, the symptoms dramatically improved). I do have a genetic mutation though which affects the way I metabolize some drugs, so that I need lower doses than you'd expect.

What you're experiencing sounds awful, and I wish I could help. You're remarkably civil for being sleep-deprived.

Your CPAP telling you that you don't have OSA is like putting on your glasses and saying, "I see just fine, so I must not need glasses." Your CPAP is treating you, not diagnosing you.

If you want help here, it's best to use Sleepyhead software and upload some data for us to look at. There are tutorials up in the top section of the home page.
