Dreamstation filters reusability?

So the Philips Dreamstation machines have two air filters, the coarse pollen filters, and the so-called Ultra-fine filters. The pollen filters are supposed to be reusable, while the ultra-fines are supposed to be disposed of after one use. The question is, how often do people reuse the pollen filters? Do you, for example, dispose of them after x number of uses? Or do you just compare the color of those filter elements when compared against a new one, and dispose of them if they're too dark? Also how do you clean these filters? I just rinse them under tap water and let them dry off.

Wash the plastic filter as many times as you like.
The fiber filters are disposable.
Use the filter material as your guide, not the name they call them.

I dont have a Dreamstation any more and I liked the filtration system and humdifier much better than on my Resmed Aurcurve
This is what Philips says:

The pollen filters are reusable and washable, but after some reuses they do not look as white as they used to be when they were new. This is why I'm asking if there is an upper limit on how many reuses you can get with them?

I'm not talking about reusing the Ultra-Fine filters. But what do you mean by use the filter material as your guide?

IF I had that brand of machine, I would replace any washable filter that started always looking dirty.
But that's just me.
Resmed has only one filter--I use the hypoallergenic filter--and I replace them at 3 weeks,
because visible soil tells me it's no longer 100% effective.
My allergies speak to me--excessive morning sneezes tell me to fix something.
If not, my eyes begin to itch and my eyelids twitch. So I pay attention.

Sorry. I never noticed any difference in color after washing.

You can buy brand new ones for about $5.00. Then you know you have a clean one if you need it. I would change it often and not worry. Hard to clean it anyway. Why take a chance?

The main, washable filter is supposed to last 2-3 months and the small flat fine filters are supposed to be changed out every 2 weeks. I just switched from a Dreamstation to a ResMed and like that it only uses one filter which is supposed to be changed every 30 days.

That seems excessive, I was told that both filters need to be changed after 1 month, but that the pollen filter can be washed and reused at a later date, while the ultrafine needs to be disposed of after its month is up.

No, the clinical manual *clearly* states "every six months or more often if needed".

Hmmmm....they used to say every 6 months or sooner if they appear dirty.
Looks like ResMed may have changed things.
I had a manual somewhere that clearly said 6 months or sooner if dirty.
I will see if I can find it just to prove it....but it does appear that ResMed wants to get on the once a month cash cow bandwagon.

You are both correct...I have also seen the 6 month thing and now we see the once a month thing.

Actually I think that "when dirty" makes more sense regardless of how long it has been...but that's just me.
