XPAP making funny noises???

Post by krousseau » Fri Feb 08, 2008 12:29 pm

A friend who is a hospital social worker went to a DME provider presentation this week. July 1 Medicare is going to a purchase outright rather than capped rental process in obtaining PAP, beds, wheelchairs etc. In the new system the DME will immediately become the property and responsibility of the beneficiary.
You own it-you fix it. Under the current system Medicare pays for maintenance even after the capped rental period is over. Apparently they pay DME providers 2 times a year to maintain/service/fix PAP units that they provide to Medicare beneficiaries--whether or not the machines are brought in every six months. So if you have a PAP unit paid for by Medicare and have not had it in for maintenance take it in now. It is a good time to check out any funny noises the machine is making. Even if there are not any problems you can have your pressures checked-takes only a few minutes for that (if the person doing the checking knows how to get to the clinician menu).
