Old posts without current activity???

Post by Sharrykb » Tue Nov 04, 2014 9:53 am

Anyone know why all these old posts are appearing at the top of the list? They don't even seem to have any current activity on them so why do we have to wade through them to find the current posts from people who want/need help?

I think they were all old threads with polls in them and looks like the poll troll forum member paid us another visit and resurrected several old polls from the archives.
Remember a vote will bring it back to life even if no comments are made.
Just avoid the temptation to say anything in the thread...and let them die off the front page back into the archives.

Thank you for the explanation Pugsy! It was crazy when I got on my computer and had to go half way down page 1 before I saw any current posts. Don't worry, I have no intention of doing anything with those old posts. They need to go away!!!

As soon as I saw the date and then looked at the last post date I knew that the poll troll had stuck again and didn't really have to open the threads but I just did a couple before posted above to make sure.
Be prepared though...newbies will vote....they always do and someone will likely say something and they may bounce around for a little while before falling off the page.
If people won't vote (newbies will though) and don't reply in the thread (but again newbies will because they won't know to read the dates) they will fall off sooner but from what I have seen in the past...people will resurrect the threads now because they either will vote or reply. Most often newbies fall for it but every now and thing a forum veteran gets sucked in.

Me....I don't even bother to open these old threads like this with no new replies. I almost always check dates first.

Yeah... here we go again. You would think people have better things to do. Almost responded in one but saw the date at the last minute. You have to laugh and move on. Wish there was a way that the old threads, especially the poll threads, could be removed. Yes, there is some good info in some of them but mostly they are annoying.

We might be better off if all polls were deleted, and new ones could not be initiated.
Most polls have no value whatsoever; and the ancient ones even less!

The problem has been apparent forever, but not corrected, there is also the problem of newbee's, bringing up old threads not reading them, but posting on the thread, the same questions that were addressed in the thread, that they couldn't take time or effort to read. Keyboards won't go bad waiting for asking useful questions, unless they were already addressed earlier in the same thread. Jim

PLEASE do not post to the old ones - just let them go down the list and disappear.

And, don't be tempted to VOTE in them either. That (or the posting) will keep them from sliding off the page and back into oblivion......where they belong. I know, it's interesting to see how people voted on them, but now they deserve to be left to "history".
