OMG WOW -- this is one old machine!

Does it run on electricity or steam?

I was going to say 'hand cranked' but then saw what's either a cord, or tube coiled up on one of the pics...

also, amazing that it's priced reasonably.

I don't know. I went to a Senior Expo a while back and the lady from the hospital Sleep Center had this one on display, looks almost the same era. Had the back off and the fan was powered by a belt from the motor. I asked her what the big bulb was and she said she did not know but thought it might be to smooth out the flow.

Wow, yes I have seen these stock pics of this unit. I have never seen one in person but I definitely want to pick one up. I love the rebreather bag. What a contraption. Very retro.

In what regard?
That I don't actually own the OLDEST machine ever made?
That's not for me. However there was one long-time forum member, "dsm", who lives in Australia and who did sort of collect some of the old stuff he came across.
I just came to a decision a long time ago that I was going to stick with the machines I started with......and consequently wouldn't have to keep updating software and other accessories. I also saw some of the problems that were discovered with the subsequent generations and that convinced me even more. Besides, about 5 years ago I started finding some of these machines at MUCH lower prices than they had previously been. That made it more affordable in that I could buy 4 or 5 of these hardly-used (practically new) machines for the price of any new (current model) ones. So, I have spare machines, spare parts and everything is interchangeable. I'm thankful that I arrived into this therapy at a time when the data-capabilities were "maturing". And, since my therapy isn't very complicated, all I need is the same data I've been using for the last 10 years.

I live in Milwaukee and I e-mailed the seller. I want to buy this unit to give to my DME for display. This is an independent DME that has done me many favors in the past.

I think I saw the prototype of that model used on an old Flintstone's episode. Instead of an electrical blower there was a howler monkey trained to catch his apneas by blowing into a set of bamboo tubes (just kiddin' folks, so don't go researching old Flintstone episodes)

On another strange CPAP/TV topic: Does anybody remember in maybe the second season of Mike and Molly when Mike was using a CPAP machine and FFM? They got a few predictable cheap shots out of that topic (Darth Vader etc) when he surprised Molly with his faithful CPAP 'bedtime buddy'. However from season three onwards, no more CPAP machine ever in sight when they go to bed at night. It must be a miracle cure. Maybe I'll write the network and ask what Mike's secret to success was

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
