App for ResMed My Air

Post by antdroid » Mon May 11, 2015 1:45 pm

Hi,

Im new to CPAP and new to this community but I have recently been seeing a sleep doctor about my sleeping habits, snoring, etc and did a sleep study. My results suggested I had mild sleep apnea (11.4 AHI).

So I’ve been on CPAP therapy for about a week now using a ResMed AirSense 10 machine and have gone through a few masks and have currently settled on the Philips Respironics Nuance Pro nasal pillows. This therapy treatment is a bit intimidating at first and I look like a weirdo with it on at night, but at the same time, as an engineer and tech gadget nerd, it also interests me because of the high tech gizmos and gadgets involved.

Part of ResMed’s newest line of PAP machines is that they have built-in cellular data transfer to their website for online viewing of your performance every day. It’s a nice graphical and simple view of how you slept the night before. However, there’s no app for viewing on my cell phone!

So I quickly created an Android app that basically just opens up the website and lets you view your score quickly without going through the trouble of opening the browser and typing in the web page manually.

Try it out.

ResMed MyAir Android app

Instructions for installation:
1. Make sure you have Unknown Sources enabled on your phone: Go to Settings, Security, then check the Unknown Sources box.
2. Download the app with the link above onto your phone. Easiest way is to use browser on your phone and go to the link.
3. If you downloaded it from your phone, it should open up an installation dialogue right away. If not, you can use a file browser to go to the Download folder and install it from there!

Unfortunately, the "score" is normally not what people want to see on a full data machine. They want to see the detail data which is not available via the method you are using.

A full detail chart looks like:

And provides much more than a "score" which can be misleading and lacks the detail to see what is going on.

As for you app, why are you not distributing this via the Google Play store?? I don't recommend people who are not tech savvy from dealing with 3rd party apps that bypass at least some protections. No idea who you are, what reputation you have, if your app is secure, sends data to other places, loads unwanted other software etc... If you were a regular user, and had some sort of reputation, that might be different.

I dont have a developer account for google play store. I just make random things for my own personal use. I figured it'd might be useful for someone to have. All it does is open the website.

I totally understand if there's fear of whatever may be in the software, etc. I have the same paranonia when installing random stuff too -- especially on my computer.

Also I do get that the detailed data isn't available on Resmed website. That's not really the objective I was trying to make with this. It was just a quick way to look at my general AHI score on resmed website in the morning on the way to work.

If you all dont feel comfortable, I can remove this post or link. Sorry if I am violating any board rules or making you feel uncomfortable about this. I'm still a newbie to this treatment and this message board and just trying to give an alternative quick method to help out since I've been lurking and reading other's insightful comments for a while.

I personally don't use bookmarks on mobile browsers because of excessive clicks needed to get to them.

You are not breaking a rule, you are doing something that can be abused easily.

There are lots of tutorials on how to make a bookmark into a button on your homescreen, so all you have to do it touch the button and you are there. Don't need to even bring up the browser first.

*lol* I don't browse on my phone much, so I didn't know you could do that... I loaded up a page, hit the menu button in firefox, said "hmm, maybe it's under 'page', and there it was. click 'add to home screen'.

three clicks to create a link on the home page. .... didn't even have to bookmark it first.

Just stumbled across this post while searching for ResMed App...I cannot believe how abusive the response to op was. The guy just wrote some script to be faster, I have a bunch of apps on my phone to accomplish the tasks similar to what he wrote. Holy unwelcoming community.

I reread this thread several times and have no idea how you came up with the interpretation you did.
I couldn't see ANYTHING that could be construed as "abusive" or "unwelcoming" in the responses.

Any new app or software needs to be vetted as safe from malware.
The Google Play store does this.
Any attempt to bypass this process is automatically suspected, even if it is perfectly harmless.
It is what it is.

I use the my air score daily. Easy way for me to insure I had a good nights score and low leakage. On the weekend is when I do my regular sleepy head report.

That's exactly what I do. I find that both Sleepyhead and My Air both have their uses.

Where can we get this? I clicked on the link above, and it told me that the domain was not registered.
