Sleepyhead question

Post by cyclist56 » Sat Jul 18, 2015 9:18 am

The instructions say to write protect the SD card before downloading to computer. I have a Macbook Air. How do you write protect the card? Is it really necessary? Thx.

To write protect the SD card you just slide the little tiny plastic tab.

I don't know if it is critical with the AirSense machines. With the S9 machines some operating systems would put a little file on the SD card which changes the SD card and the S9 would reject the card forcing a total erase of the SD card.
Respironics machines don't care so it isn't a big deal with them.
Used to be just some of the Mac operating systems would do this but seems like Windows 8.1 also does it.
So the write protect suggestion was mainly to prevent the rejection of the SD card by the S9 machine.
If you don't write protect the SD card and you use it to get your data and then you put it back in the AirSense machine and you don't get an "invalid card" message then it probably doesn't matter if you lock the SD card or not.

Thx. I successfully accessed the data and reinstalled the card with no issues.

Of course don't forget to un-protect the card before re-installing it or it won't get your new data.
