blueTooth

Post by jules » Sun Dec 20, 2015 12:05 pm

if I were to get a machine with this, can I turn this crap off? I have no desire to ever use a smart phone and don't like anything broadcasting in the house -

in other words, is this a constant all night signal or just a once in a blue moon signal you have to ask for from the cpap to the smart phone?

What?

If you're referring to a specific model of a specific machine, we can probably help a lot better if we know which one you have. Not a techie here, but even just as a person, I can't tell what you're griping about - a phone, bluetooth (in relation to what?), a Cpap machine?

I am looking at PR1 Auto ----

I know nothing about blue tooth except it is wireless communication - i have it turned off on the computers - the cards disabled

we don't do smart phones - we don't do wifi -- I won't have that stuff in the house

if I were to get this apap, can this bluetooth be permanently disabled so no wireless signal is ever sent out from the apap?

Near as I can tell it is a separate module that must be attached to the blower unit for it to work.
I would assume that all a person would need to do is simply not attach it or remove it if it is already attached.

On CPAP.com specs page at the bottom it states how it ships machines and it lists Bluetooth: Off, so I assume you can turn on and off.

Thank you OkyDoky

I had missed that

I chatted with another vendor and they said you have to turn it on on the Dream Machine. I know with the computer I had to turn it off (disable it).

I just need to know that I can have this permanently off.

Bluetooth has a very limited range, just a few feet.
What is the concern?

few feet is still an issue - I don't want something broadcasting by my head - I am very EMF sensitive

Then you better wrap you Cpap in tinfoil ... I believe it puts out more EMF that the blue tooth.
And certainly do not use a telephone or a hair dryer
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Some insurance uses Bluetooth to see if you are compliant.

I think you are referring to wireless phone service.... not bluetooth

I buy OOP - I don't use insurance for cpap supplies. If I was using insurance I would ask these questions to the DME I was using.

They use celluar communications. Bluetooth is close range from one device to another.
