Emptying dreamstation water
Is there a trick to emptying the last bit of water from the humidifier in the morning? I have to shake it like crazy and water goes everywhere

Re: Emptying dreamstation water
WHY would you do this? You are just going to fill it up again anyway. If you use distilled water there is no purpose to emptying out your tank...just keep filling it. My personal machine is over 2 years old and the humidifier has never been dried out...it's as clear as the day I got it.Controlshift wrote:Is there a trick to emptying the last bit of water from the humidifier in the morning? I agree with LSAT. No need to empty it. Just top up.Controlshift wrote:Is there a trick to emptying the last bit of water from the humidifier in the morning? I have to shake it like crazy and water goes everywhere
In my case though, the only time I need to empty it is if I'm going to travel and I'm bringing my primary machine. I just take out the chamber, put it upside down then wipe it down with clean toilet paper.

Actually when I empty it I hold it over the bathtub and just shake it.Controlshift wrote:Is there a trick to emptying the last bit of water from the humidifier in the morning? I have to shake it like crazy and water goes everywhere

Re: Emptying dreamstation water
Call me a cynic but I think that if the Dreamstation tanks can't be opened then after six months (or whatever) it's going to gunk up... distilled water or not. This could all be a ResMed ploy to sell more tanks to people who aren't able to clean them adequately. Note: I've had some of my Phillips and ResMed tanks for four years and they do require periodic cleaning, usually every six months using a Q-tip and salt. This build-up typically happens in the corners of the baffles. Yes, I always use distilled water.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Is there anyone out there who has a PR Dreamstation? Does the tank open for cleaning, or not? Inquiring minds need to know!Guest wrote:I thought the chamber came out and the lid separated?
I'd appreciate hearing from an S10 owner, too, who can answer this same question.
I'm workin' on it.

On S10, both the regular tank and the washable tank are hinged;
the entire top swings away for plenty of cleaning access.

what I've heard is it's a non-openable, hard to clean thing made to be hard to get the water out of. (less spillage) but it doesn't work as well as envisioned.Hose_Head wrote:Is there anyone out there who has a PR Dreamstation? Does the tank open for cleaning, or not? I assume you're referring to the Dreamstation. That's too bad. I'll soon be in the market for one but a tank that cannot be opened for cleaning in the dishwasher (my preferred practice) is a deal-breaker.
It looks as though I'll be moving on over to the Resmed bandwagon.....

Re: Emptying dreamstation water
You can slide and open the top remove the clear plastic container. Every morning I just empty the water and left the container out to dry. That's the water that goes into your lung so I won't advise to leave it over days and just to it up. Mould or gems flow fast. I have soft water and filtered soft water for drinking so never got any calcium build up in tank. I heard they usually build up on the hearing plate.

I can't believe that either. Check YouTube for a vid showing it in the dishwasher. I also can't believe no one here has a comment on it.Hose_Head wrote:but a tank that cannot be opened for cleaning in the dishwasher (my preferred practice) is a deal-breaker.
