Post-xPAP: still tired with low ESS score

Post by jaw » Sat Oct 15, 2016 2:51 pm

Hi all,

In this post I wonder how other xPAP people experience RES (residual excessive sleepiness) and how your ESS scores are.

While checking if my evening tiredness and morning brain fogginess are due to a Residual Excessive Sleepiness, I do the Epsworth Sleepiness Scale test
http://www.sleepservices.com.au/patient ... ness-scale, and I find out my post-CPAP score is low: only 3

0 Sitting and reading
0 Watching TV
0 Sitting inactive in a public place (e.g. cinema or in a meeting)
3 Being in a car for an hour as a passenger (without a break)
0 Lying down to rest in the afternoon (when possible)
0 Sitting and chatting to someone
0 Sitting quietly after lunch (not having had alcohol)
0 In a car when you stop in traffic for a few minutes

while my pre-CPAP score should be 11

3 Sitting and reading
0 Watching TV
0 Sitting inactive in a public place (e.g. cinema or in a meeting)
3 Being in a car for an hour as a passenger (without a break)
3 Lying down to rest in the afternoon (when possible)
0 Sitting and chatting to someone
2 Sitting quietly after lunch (not having had alcohol)
0 In a car when you stop in traffic for a few minutes

Probably ESS score does not work for me, because I almost never watch TV, my mind is always busy thinking, I am always busy doing something (work full time, 2 kids, have to deal with all soft of paper works for house holding).
