What kind of tape do folks use?

Post by jwjeffrey » Wed Mar 14, 2018 6:15 am

Hello, I am trying to experiment with taping my mouth shut. What tape should I buy/have folks found effective? A search on Amazon reveals tens of solutions regarding medical tape. Appreciate any direct links to tapes online/Amazon.

Thank you

1 inch width "Nexcare Sensitive Skin" tape works perfect for me. I fold over a tab on one end in case I ever have a need to rip it off quickly, and tape straight across my entire lip area. Works perfectly.

I even discovered that if I carefully put it back on the roll in the morning, I can use it TWO full nights before it stops sticking.

I have used the Chin-Up strips http://chinupstrip.com/

But I am now a full blown Mouth Breather. So, I now use:
3M Medipore H-Soft Cloth Surgical Tape by 3M
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O0FBL4/

It has some give to it.
The serrations are a pain. But I put 3 sections (offset) on top of 4 .
And it's cheaper in the long run.

Of course the nose has to work really well, otherwise the CPAP is not worth a hoot.
ZZZZzzzz........

Nexcare water resistant tape, white, spool of 30 meters, a 3M product. Works well. I haven't been able to get a second use of the same strip of that tape, so a new strip goes on each night.

i realize this is not an answer to your question. instead, it's an alternative to taping your mouth-

works for me, may work for you.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.
