I'm curious how the Hozer and/or Hose Buddy would work with this mask:
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/fisher ... -Mask.html

It's the next one I'm looking at. I like that I can route the hose out of my way and hold it in place up top but then it seems like it will be angled downward when I lay down. Seems like the Hose Buddy and Hozer are best suited for front hose masks.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever experimented with a counterweight system to put a gentle backward tension on the hose without too much as to break the seal. Is this even possible I wonder?

Or, this is my overkill version, you could wire a taut line or cable across the room, high over your pillow, with rings that attach to segments of hose, the way power cables are rigged on some over head cranes and such. That would allow you a wide range of left-right motion on the bed without needing slack. A light, long spring or elastic cord could help keep up slack between the ring that supports the end segment and the mask.

Pro: Long axis of movement.
Cons: uses up a lot of room. Might not actually work well depending on the tension of the cable and the friction of the rings. A rod, bar or pipe might work better but could make noise.

Major points for creative hose management!! I'm laughing as I picture the zip line strung across the room.

I use my mic boom with both standard hose masks and top of the head Dreamwear masks. The long arc of the boom and position of the side of the bed easily allows me to swing the attachment in front of my head or behind it. The major difference is that I have to adjust the slack differently for each.

I just saw this hose holder and it looks like a hozer system and mic stand hybrid . I have never tried it, but it looks interesting.

Hmm...looks like that could work. Kind of ugly, but if it works well that's what I'd really care about. They sell them for $60 on Amazon.

(I'd link to the sponsor's site if they sold them, but they don't.)

Have you considered a Dreamwear mask?

They pretty much end tube strangulation attempts!

The hose buddy needs to be mounted high enough to lift the hose out of your way.
It is not as useful in a restricted space, like in a camper or train sleeper.
Hotel headboards are usually tall enough--usually.
Duck tape and scrunchies can be indispensable.

The CHRALS CPAP Hose Lift Support S10 uses an adjustable counterweight to gently lift the hose above you. A rotary arm quietly moves the hanging hose up and down as you turn to eliminate slack and keep it out-of-the-way. The CHRALS S10 mounts under the mattress at the side of the bed near the pillow and allows mask-to-hose connection movement in an area of about 3 feet from side of bed and 2 feet from head of bed. Another option: 3m "Command" hook and a stretchy loop (I use a head band). This is a "medium" with a metal hook on a painted wall and it has yet to come off. When I last traveled, I used this in a hotel and it worked a treat. The "command" hooks don't leave a mark when you take them off either. The hose location on my mask helps too -- I have a Dreamwear nasal cushion and the hose attaches on top of my head.

Thanks for all the input. I just wanted to touch base with an update.

I got the blue hose management thing from Amazon a couple of weeks ago and so far it's been a huge improvement. I did some minor modification to the coiled loop thing at the top to get the hose to slide easier through it. I also weighted the hose to just the perfect amount of counterweight to pull it back through (mostly).

Maybe I missed it but I'm surprised nobody in this thread has mentioned the cozy-hose boss, available from pur-sleep. I've been using this device for about 10 years and even take it with me when I travel. While not perfect, it solves 90% of my hose management issues.

https://pur-sleep.com/collections/popul ... yhoze-boss

easiest way to attach it is to use double sided tape. 3M makes a product that's easily removable and won't leave marks

My chief complaints about this system are:

1) the reels don't have enough grunt to control a hose that has a hose cover over it. The solution is to place the two attachment points to the hose closer together.
2) It all seems a little flimsy. However, I've been getting more than 5 years out of a device, so I can't complain about durability too much.

In my mind, these devices should be standard issue with all machines.

YMMV
I'm workin' on it.

No. I don't want to pay for them. If your machine and hose are positioned correctly, no accessory is needed.

when i first came here, three years ago, there was lots of talk about hose management. and as a newbie i thought "oh, fine! bet that's going to happen to me. i'll end up strangling myself!"

but i never had any trouble with my hose. it lays gently beside me and i've never had it wrap itself around me.

so, that's ONE bullet i managed to dodge....
