Rolled on heated tubung, safe to use?

Post by TrainGuy55 » Mon Oct 15, 2018 8:06 pm

So last night I kinda rolled over onto my heated tubing. Hit it with an elbow and it made a crackling noise. I'm not sure if it's safe to use if for example the plastic broke or something?

What do you think?

Hello TrainGuy,
If it where me only because it made a noise like something breaking I'd do a very good visual inspection of the whole hose if you don't find anything broken then it should be safe to use.
I know I've rolled onto my heated tubbing before without the noise of course. Typically it's ok to roll on the hoses though you do have to be careful to not get tangled up in the hose.
There's my 2 cents
I'm still fairly new to the CPAP thing I've had mine since January of this year.

All you can do is try it and see how it works. This is why we recommend you have at least one spare of everything on hand. Things like to break on Friday evenings when you cannot find a replacement until Monday at the earliest.

If you have a Dreamstation (as your profile indicates) a new replacement heated hose is $26 on Amazon. I was looking yesterday at it. Prime Eligible if you have Prime.

Supposedly a Philips made one.

Thank you for the tip about Amazon. My hose stops heating after about a month and a half of use and my company I go through for my supplies wants 40.00 for it.

I just bought that one. The bag was marked "Philips" and seems to be. Worked fine for the last 3 nights.

That sounds like a lot of suppliers.
If insurance kicks in, the charges might be (partly) justifiable.
Your bottom line is the deciding factor.
I only use my local DME because Medicare requires it--then they pay.

Rolling on your heated hose is just fine. It usually works and is safe to use. STEPPING on your heated hose usually breaks the wire. You can still use the hose, but it won't eliminate rainout. I try to remember to use clips to keep the hose away from the floor now.
