SleepyHead Software: where to download

Post by DesertMax » Mon Mar 04, 2019 7:19 pm

First, from day to day I use an Acer Chromebook. Can the software work on it?
Also, I have a very old Win 7 LT and did download SH but it does not show up in the programs list
so it appears I am not able to open it now. I notice the open source author appears to have
closed down the project so is there another program that may work or is SH the best?

You can download Sleepyhead here https://www.apneaboard.com/sleepyhead/ OSCAR will replace SleepyHead and will be available soon.

OSCAR - Open Source CPAP Analysis Reporter

We are formally establishing a proper and legal fork on GitLab in March (no guarantees) with the name OSCAR - Open Source CPAP Analysis Reporter of the now-closed SleepyHead project. Mark Watkins, aka jedimark, is the author of SleepyHead which is the foundation of this Fork and as such we will be forever grateful. The initial release, OSCAR v.1.0.0, will have minimal changes from SleepyHead v 1.1.0 and is primarily to establish the fork of SleepyHead. Once we release we will announce a published a link to the source in accordance with the GPL version 3. The following release will have bugfixes, translations, and perhaps some enhancements added.

Development for OSCAR is being performed by a group of developers from the Apnea Community, comprised of some of the same individuals that have contributed to previous versions of SleepyHead and others that have not, including individuals from multiple forums and multiple nationalities, in other words OSCAR is being developed by volunteers who are working on developing the worlds best, most complete, with more models being compatible, than any other product in the world. We can always use more Developers, Translators, Documenters, and Testers. If you would like to contribute to this project please PM me.

Fred Bonjour
Project Manager and Lead Tester for OSCAR

You just have to find where the sleepyhead.exe file is,and run it directly, drag it onto your desktop.

I have a Chromebook. I'd be very surprised in Sleepyhead worked with it.

Chromebooks run an OS based on Linux so no its not going to run.

Now I have heard you can install Windows 10 on certain models but it involves opening the machine switching something like a jumper and then installing WIN 10. Note you will also need a valid WIN 10 license key.

There is a version that works with Ubuntu 15:04 and I think I installed
and used it a time or 2 in Ubuntu 18:04 so it just might run on a chromebook
Anyway it's a very small program and only takes a moment to download
and install it.

Chromebooks run an Android based OS. Android is loosely based on Linux.

SleepyHead runs on Linux but not Android.

and why, praytell, not?

Given that the lead programmer uses ubuntu?

tyr:~/src/OSCAR-code$ uname -a
Linux tyr 4.15.0-45-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jan 29 16:28:13 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

@tyr:~/src/OSCAR-code$ oscar
00051: Debug: OSCAR 1.0.0-beta-1 (linux x86_64) built with Qt 5.9.5 on Mar 1 2019 01:35:42
00052: Debug: Inbuilt Translations: af, ar, bg, de, el, en_UK, en_US, es, fi, fr, it, nl, pt, se, zh

Sleepyhead was developed on a mac, not windows.

I apologize in advance if I'm misunderstanding these threads, but if I haven't previously installed Sleepyhead, should I should just wait a little for the introduction of OSCAR?

Also, I'm barely able to use my Mac, so will OSCAR require knowledge of Ubuntu, Linux, debugging, etc., or basically anything more challenging than clicking on a few buttons?

brother, you aren't the only one. i'm hoping someone knowledgeable will be along soon to straighten it out.

i worry, because new people come here all the time and i want to be able to point them to software they can get, be it oscar or sleepyhead. makes no never mind to me, just want to get newbies the help they need.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.
