Heart Rate flucuated up/down
Last night I saw something very strange on my Contec SpO2 chart. For about an hour, when I think I was in REM, my HR kept spiking up and down from 65-90 or higher. I''m on Xarelto for past DVT/PE and had one AFIB incident in 2017.
What could have caused this weird abnormal fluctuation? Could this be AFIB or something else, or just a mistake from my Contec sensor?
In any case, I forwarded all of this to my cardiologist and elecgrophysiologist for their thoughts. One time in the night, it hit 112bpm, but I may have moved around in bed. It doesn't take much movement for my HR to climb up for some reason. I'm on Beta Blockers as well. Another thing is my resting heart rate was much higher that night. I'm usually in the 60's, but it was in 80's most of the time.

With your heart problems, you did the right thing contacting your physicians. I would recommend aggressively following up with them.

Re: Heart Rate flucuated up/down
Here is from last night, which is normal for me. As you can see, my HR is lower, 60-70's and doesn't flucuate up/down like it did saturday night. I called my doctors this morning to see if they can get some type of monitor for me.
I have been diagnosed with "inappropriate sinus tachycardia", but that is different then what is going on here. The questions is....Why is this happening only at night?

Re: Heart Rate flucuated up/down
Beta blockers are known to wreak minor havoc at times... has anyone looked into your situation recently about them?

Re: Heart Rate flucuated up/down
My doctors just said if I have "inappropriate sinus tachycardia" that happens, to just take an extra low-dose Bystolic to slow my HR. They never told me that Beta Blockers could cause any type of havoc. I used to be on Amlodipine and others but they caused heart block and swelling in legs. Bystolic doesn't cause that in me.

What would you have them say? Something the poster's cardiac specialists might disagree with? This is not about e.g. a leaky mask or color of a machine.

And who are these perceived spo2 "experts" you speak of?
Get OSCAR
Accounts to put on the foe list: dataq1, clownbell, gearchange, lynninnj, mper!?, DreamDiver, Geer1, almostadoctor, sleepgeek, ajack, stom, mogy, D.H., They often post misleading, timewasting stuff.

Re: Heart Rate flucuated up/down
And what would you wish someone would/could do or say?
They have already been given the best possible advice IMHO...by bombayone which was essentially....see/talk to your doctor.
I see no need for 15 people to tell him the same thing.
He has a cardiologist currently. It's not like he doesn't have anyone managing him.
There are some things I won't mess with because we simply are not the people to be giving advice about doing anything and the heart is one of them..... Especially someone already with a history of AFIB and on beta blockers. There's simply too much unknown here to offer anything more than "see your doctor".

Re: Heart Rate flucuated up/down
Irregular heart rates frequently come and go. To check how often this is going on, you need more data. Put your oximeter on and record a few 24 hour sessions. Keep in mind that this can damage your finger from the clamping pressure so be sure to frequently change fingers and watch closely to make sure you are not damaging the skin surface.
At this point you would have more information to share with your doctor and you may have a better understanding of how often you are experiencing irregularities. When I went through this I was amazed at how often my heart rate was irregular during the day.
On the chance that your irregularity is the result of a mineral imbalance in the body, many have found that a healthy spinach salad often calms the heart down.

Re: Heart Rate flucuated up/down
Thanks. Doctor ordered me another heart monitor to wear for two weeks. Although the chances of catching anything in that short amount of time is slim. I may need one of those tiny implantable monitors that last for a couple years.
