Phillips Respironics System one Whistle on inhale

Post by w7psk » Mon Jan 27, 2020 12:25 pm

Developed a whistle on inhale. Wife is not happy (her System one is quiet). I have a new hose, new water tank seals and filters. Its not coming from the mask, its in the machine. Anyone have similar and found out what it is?

Also I put in the new white hepa filter behind the grey filter and its noisy as heck. Had to take it out so it wasn't so noisy.

Thanks

Reseat/tighten all removable parts:
  • hose
  • humidifier
  • humidifier gasket/lid
  • filters
If this doesn't help. Start swapping parts with your wife's machine. As soon as the whistling moves to her machine (or goes away) you know what the problem part was.

If after swapping parts, your machine still has a whistling noise, it's likely internal to your machine and probably not easily solved via DIY.

I had one that was whistling, it had a PR elbow added on between the machine and the hose, it had sharp plastic angles inside the elbow that would set up resonances in the tube, and make things whistle.

I recently was given a loaner of the same make and model, it too has a whistle.
