I'm sorry, could you restate the question?

Basically,

Am I taking all the right steps? Should I continue to see specialists prior to trying out CPAP therapy for an extended period of time in an effort to get to the bottom of my problem ASAP?

Do my symptoms suggest only mild sleep apnea? Is there a reason to be more concerned?

Can I expect to recover under CPAP therapy?

Any other advice

etc.

This is also partially me checking in prior to starting my CPAP journey as of tomorrow. I figured this would be a good place to begin.

For the most part, it seems like there is not a lot of information out there in regards to Complex/Central Apnea, particularly when it comes to younger people. Some insight here would be great. It's been a bit worrisome.

Worry about the centrals if you start seeing a lot of them after you are on cpap.

It appears that TWO doctors say to do cpap.
Do that first. It is the normal course of action.
If you are looking for an alternative to cpap,
you need to accept that cpap is probably the best solution.

Are you still on the Adderall? If so, have you discussed possibly either quitting altogether - but only with MD's help - or at least changing your schedule, dose, etc. because it has messed with your sleep for half your life and you should (IMO) have at least countered it at night with a tiny (? 1 mg) dose of melatonin. Because unless you get that aspect of things worked out, you may continue to have trouble. And I'd be interested to know how things go if you do stop (or rework) taking it after a few wks. Don't worry about 'centrals' now, as has been said... at most a little red herring in the bigger picture at this point.

And some recent studies have shown Vit. D supps to not be very useful.

Makes sense, thank you. Just thinking about what might cause it and if centrals are ever reversible.

Yes thank you. I have nothing against CPAP, I'm actually excited to try it out. I guess I"m just hoping that someday the apneas, particularly the centrals, can be reversed so I don't need it. Also wondering if curing an underlying problem can accelerate healing at all, but maybe not.

I haven't taken the Adderall consistently since the end of the semester in May 2019. This is when my brain fog/fatigue really became noticeable, and it hasn't improved. Ideally I'd like to stop taking it for good moving forward. In the past I've mentioned to my doctor that I tended to take it on and off, taking it for 3-4 months during the semester and then laying off of it in between semesters/days that I don't need it/etc. However, I've never felt as bad as i do now when I went off of it for weeks at a time. Overall it's a low dosage but I've actually always felt good (only minor fatigue, no brain fog) when I take breaks more than anything. I've never realized that I needed to strategically wean off of it. Recently my doctor actually did mention that coming off of the adderall could contribute to the way I'm feeling now, but it just doesn't seem like it in this case. I'll have to bring it up again in my next check up.

And thanks for the Vitamin D info, I'm going to look into it.

Take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Repeat a few times.

The centrals are not a problem you need to worry about at all right now.

Even without them your tests show cpap therapy would still be advised.

Best advice is to get your cpap equipment and try it. That takes effort at first. But if improvement follows you will WANT to make it work.

If on insurance, be sure to get a cpap machine that is auto adjusting like the ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset or equivalent. Masks are more personal and will take a few tries to get what works best for you.

You are not yet being treated.
We already know that cpap works,
Especially when we have the right equipment and support.
It is said that if you picture it--it will happen.
Picture good things.
