Looking around the house for books I have not read.
Darn! I need to donate a few--make that a lot.

(Not me)
"Why I refuse to wear a covid mask while shopping:
1. I am a jerk.
2. I have no open warrants--(I think)
3. This face is too pretty to cover.
4. My body odor is all the protection I need.
5. This country is too crowded--I WANT people to die."
(Especially "those" people.)

while i laud your intent, personally, i really don't like e-books. i like the feel and smell of actual physical books.

mind you, during my shelter in place regime, i'm starting to read a few more e-books. mainly because of the convenience.

still, once used bookstores are open (and it's safe!), i'll be back amongst the dusty old shelves once more.

intent, personally
My intent isn't all that laudable other than keeping down the clutter. I have nothing against physical books. Nothing beats them for fiction and other forms of pleasure reading. But I try to keep them out of my home and office other than one or two at a time from libraries. Just a personal choice. I'm not an activist about it or anything.

ah! yes, i know people like this. my problem is that i have a bit of a hoarders mentality when it comes to books. it's somewhat justified because i will read books over again.

when i made my move from the northwest to the southwest, i managed to cull some. same on the way back to the northwest.

still, i have enough to keep me cozy on a cold winters night!

oh, are you saying there are books OTHER than fiction?

When we lived in Nevada, the Carson City library got bed bugs. (Shudder) turned me into a huge e reader fan.

The libraries I use are private. But good point.

E-books are useful in that almost every book can be read in large print.
It's a shame that affordable USED books will soon be non-existent.
Antique books will certainly increase in value--if they can be found . . .
I feel that greed will eventually eliminate reading.

i'm certainly hoping that used books can hang in there. and by that, i mean the little mom and pop shops.

we traipsed down to everett(about and hour and a half? drive) because Half Priced Books was doing curbside. go to their website and browse. the website isn't the best, but we ordered what my wife likes, paid, then trucked on down.

my gripe is that these books cost four dollars in comparison to a dollar fifty at a pop and pop operation. so we won't buy a LOT there, just when we get low and need to have a venture out!
