I hated this mask!

Post by Janknitz » Sun Jun 07, 2020 6:10 pm

I know we all have our preferences, but I inherited some brand new ResMed N30i masks, and HATE that mask.

WTF is wrong with ResMed that thinks it is a good idea to blow the air on the mask wearer??? I could not escape the downward draft of the front vent. UGH!!!! This mask also leaked into my eyes no matter what I did. I tried it for a couple of weeks and could not make my peace with that mask. Sometimes free isn't worth it!

I found I still had one stashed new PR Dreamwear (no headgear, so I ordered the new style with arms and I'm using my old, stretched out headgear in the meantime). That mask directs the vented air up and away from the wearer, and only leaks if it slips off the back of my head--looking forward to the "arms" to stop the slippage.

Just drop kick that N30.... I've done that to several masks. It gave me some satisfaction!

The new style with the "arms" stopped my slippage dead in it's tracks.

ResMed N30i
Personal preference is right. Out of 153 customer reviews on cpap.com, 108 are five of five stars, and 20 are four of five stars.

My "arms" just came in the mail from Amazon today. $17 but I think they will be worth it. I tried them on and that headgear was not moving. YAY!

I think if I had never tried the Dreamwear I would give the N30i a good rating (probably 4 stars) because I used to think that the vent blowing on me was something I just had to live with. But I know better now!

Just read on AB that a new front venting is being tested that address the front venting to a more diffused venting.

Likely like the P30i

Just wondering if anybody else participated and if so what were your thoughts about the new mask.

The new mask reduce the airflow coming from the front of the cushion and only had release of air coming from the top of the connection near your head. I found it to be extremely comfortable and my only problem was getting a strong seal over the two week period. Might apneas did not change. I think I would use the new cushion and sacrifice seal for comfort.

Appreciate any comments

Yes I read that also. Does anyone have any further information concerning a possible new n30i cushion?

That’s good news that they are aware of and addressing the problem. I also found it hard to seal. It blew in my eyes around the Nares all night.

Remember that if you have any unopened masks - even ones that you think are awful - see if you can donate them to the American Sleep Apnea Society. Even if you think that they're awful, somebody else might not.

With the COVID-19 virus currently circulating, we have decided to suspend the gently used donation program.
