I checked with my insurance company to see if it would be feasible to get reimbursed for supplies I purchased directly. In principle it is possible, but in practice it may not be, as jcrocketman found. Certifying compliance is difficult, and a "prior authorization" is required. An individual getting the prior authorization would b difficult or impossible. It's a shame because I'm sure I could save the insurance company money and make my life happier, all at the same time. Oh, well.
