Note to Carolyn....

I think the forum security software doesn't like some internet providers. Yesterday around 4 PM I turned off my hughes net IP service and instead used my cell phone Verizon and created a wi fi hot spot with it and used that for my internet until midnight.
Not once did I get the robot or security error.

This morning I turned hughes net back on and took me about 15 minutes here before I got the robot message.
Jimbud who also uses hughes net was complaining of same issues. I have alerted him but haven't heard back.
ChunkyFrog uses Spectrum and I did alert her to try her cell phone as provider source to see if she still got the robot pop ups.

So if it is simply that the software doesn't like some internet providers is there some way to tell the software that the provider is safe?????
I can use my phone if needed because I have unlimited service but ChunkyFrog doesn't and I don't know about jimbud. It would cost CF a lot of money potentially to piggy back off her cell phone service.

Note to Carolyn.

I think the forum security software doesn't like my internet provider which is hughes net.

Yesterday around 4 PM I created a wi fi hot spot with my cell phone internet provider (Verizon) and used it from 4 to midnight and not once did I get the robot prompt or any security error messages.

This morning I turned hughes net back on and used it and it took maybe 10 minutes before I started getting the robot thing and ended up losing my prior reply here because I couldn't get out of the robot loop no matter what I did...even with doing the captcha thing.
So I am back on my Verizon provider for the time being.

Jimbud also uses hughes net. ChunkyFrog uses Spectrum. I alerted both of them last night and Chunkyfrog was going to use her phone to see if it resolved her issues and I think it did but she can't use her phone long term because of data usage costs.
I haven't heard back from jimbud.

So is there a way for IT to tell the forum security software that hughes net and Spectrum aren't bad?????

Thanks!

I shared with our IT group and they are looking into the issues.

Not my ISP, it was Firefox for me. Using Edge browser on mac, no problems.

Pugsy, are you using Firefox on your phone? Or Safari or Chrome?

But who is your provider?
That seems to be an issue.

I don't access the forum from my phone. I just use my phone to create a wi fi hot spot for my laptop (Windows) to connect to instead of connecting to my hughes net ISP.
No way would I attempt to type all that I type from my phone. I am using my laptop like I always do. On a rare occasion I will use my iPad Pro but that is only when I am not a home and only when I don't need my usual links or stuff like that.

I do use FireFox on the laptop but since using the cell phone hot spot wi fi...I haven't had one robot thingy show up or one security error message show up. So I am pretty sure it's my hughes net provider that is black listed in some way.
If it were my FireFox I would still be getting the robot thingy and I haven't had it since changing. If the cell phone hot spot wi fi wasn't so slow I would just use it all the time and ditch hughes net....which I might do anyway and save myself some bucks. Every time it rains I lose hughes net and have to use the phone anyway.

I have not yet turned hughes net back on to see if the IT people have fixed my problem or not. Trying to see if I can get used to the slightly slower speed and it's not just with the forum website. Other websites give me a bit of trouble when there are a lot of images on the web page.

Today has largely been more robot mischief.
I left for several hours earlier today, too much robot crap.
Right now--I'll take what I can get.
I doubt IT is active on the weekend, so maybe Monday . . .
In the meantime, I curse Spectrum.

The only problem I have had was slow response. For me, this seemed to straighten out after they rebooted the server. I either use a Windows 10 computer or my Kindle tablet. The problems were the same with both machines, and cleared up after the server reboot. I use ATT Uverse as my provider.

Ah, I see, didn't notice that you were just using your phone as a hotspot. Never mind *smile*.

This is weird--about an hour ago, I could not get into the forum at all.
Now no sign at all of the robot splash page. (Knock on wood)
I'd cross my fingers, but, you know, webs . . .
Thank IT for me, please.

So....on the cell phone hot spot all weekend. Not one robot thing or captcha thing.

Turned on hughes.net and within 5 minutes bombarded with the I am not a robot thing and the captcha thing. Couldn't really get out of it and stay out.

Back to the cell phone hot spot for me.

I may have found my problem.
My Verizon tablet is the only one that does the "robot bounce".
The older At&t tablet does not trigger the robot garbage.
I use both on my Spectrum wi-fi, so maybe a virus is at work.
Now to coax the bullfrog to do some PEST control.

For some reason even though I click "stay signed in," about three times a week I have to sign back in. It's minor, but it may be related. Safari version Version 14.0.1
