My husband had his first AstraZeneca jab at our local pharmacy yesterday morning. He is feeling mildly run down this morning but otherwise just fine.

Got my second Moderna shot yesterday. So far no problems. My wife gets hers today. It's kind of a liberating feeling but we are smart enough to follow the rules and be careful for our own sake and others.

Glad I logged in. This is a great thread! My family has been vaccinated. Two of the younger ones are getting near their appointments for second doses. Yes, the vaccine is liberating. But, we are still practicing good avoidance.

The CDC page currently shows 109 million with at least one dose. The supply is surging.

I could tell you about numerous jackasses here locally who pooh-poohed the danger and the vaccine and ended up in the hospital.

i KNOW, right?

my wife and i have had our second shot. we will continue to mask up in public, even after waiting an appropriate time for the second dose to become effective. based on what i saw, the cdc reports that not only will we be ninety percent protected, but we won't even be able to carry the virus.

so why maskup? because i don't want to get in any arguments with folks at the local geocery store if we don't.

btw, that cdc bit above is about two weeks old. reckon i should go google that to see if it still holds.

or wait until chicago granny tells me.

In my dreams maybe. Unfortunately the truth of it is that the virus gets to mutate more when people refuse to take it seriously, and eventually the mutation gets to be one the vaccines don't work well with. Like the so-called South Africa variant.

It's a lot easier to wear the mask than explain/debate why not.
I know it's the right thing to do--but everybody has their mind made up.

Perfectly describes the feeling--except for the fists.

If we, the vaccinated, start going without masks, the herd of anti-vaxx jackasses will get rid of their masks.

Moderna x 2 here. Half of household has been vaccinated. The two young adults will try to get in next week when California allows.

Guess what!

I have a friend who is a nurse and working for one of the vaccine places. She called me last evening because they had to open a new vial for their last appointment and had 5 extra doses. I got my shot! This is perfect timing for my daughter's medical school graduation as I'll get my second dose of Pfizer on April 24th, and I should be good to go in time for traveling to the Vegas area for her big day (being held at the UNLV Basketball arena with plenty of room for social distancing).

I am so happy and grateful. Not just that I will be able to attend her graduation, but I realized that the fear of getting Covid has been hanging over me this entire year. I support my family, and my biggest fear was getting too sick to work.

I am so grateful. I'm a little achey and tired, but nothing worth complaining about (though I just did  )
That's wonderful! I'm a bit behind reading the boards, but saw your first post and was hoping you would somehow be able to get an extra dose before your scheduled appointment. I am so glad you were able to. Congrats to your daughter...have a wonderful day at the graduation!
