Any consensus on Best Hose Support?

Post by SJ-Paddler » Thu Feb 10, 2022 2:17 pm

I am looking at getting a hose support system in the near future. Is there any consensus on the forum on what is the best one currently in production to get?

It's like everything else regarding cpap....one man's treasure is another man's trash and they all come with that big YMMV sticker.
Everyone is going to think the one they use is the "best" but someone else might think it totally sucks.

You have to try things yourself to find out exactly how it works for you.

I don't use any sort of hose support or hose management. Tried it and found it annoying. Go figure.
My point is everyone is different.

For what it’s worth: I’ve used the Hose Buddy (very sturdy) and the Houdini (which broke, though my husband found a fix for it). The Houdini swivels very easily, and it telescopes down to hide behind a pillow during the day.

I like the 3M wired command hooks used with a large elastic or hair scrunchie over the hose.
Crimp the wire hook slightly so the scrunchie doesn't come out when you toss n turn.
They are affordable, travel easily, and can be found at Walmart in a pinch.
Or just keep some in your suitcase or travel bag.

I jerry-rigged my home unit from a swivel plant hanger, a broken fishing rod,
duck tape and scrunchies.
When traveling, I carry duck tape, scrunchies, and safety pins.
(My brother has curtains over the headboard in the guest bedroom.)
Duck tape sticks well to motel furnixtures--(yeah, the weird wall panel
that passes for a headboard.)

I use an IV pole. I know that not many people have IV pole sitting around, and it is not a good thing if you do, but they are easily available. The pole is on wheels so I just move to the side of the bed at bedtime then in the morning roll it around to the other side of the night stand out of the way. The height of the pole is also adjustable which makes it easy to have the correct amount of hose on both sides of the pole (CPAP to pole, pole to mask). Anyway, this unusual application of an IV pole has worked great for me for several years.
