just switched to this machine a few days ago from getting screwed on the phillips recall, doc has it set to autoasv, I dont know how to read the data. it shows no events? Thanks Michael

0.0 is pretty common with a Resmed ASV, they're really good at what they do.

All those high spikes on the pressure chart though, that's an indication that the machine is working pretty hard to achieve that 0.0 result.

How did the Resmed feel compared to your Phillips ASV? I might be making the switch soon as well.

So far it seems more aggressive, I couldnt feel the phillips and you can for sure feel the resmed. I feel like my chest hurts some on the resmed but it has only been 4-5 days. Maybe as it learns it will tame down.

That's an interesting approach. Never heard that one before.

How'd you come up with those settings?

As PR notes, machine is working REALLY hard to get you a pretty waveform. Meanwhile your brain is probably still experiencing a lot of...something... that makes the machine attack (SAs).

Need SleepHQ or an Oscar file for more "free advice" (course, you know what the value of THAT can be).

Specifically, in any xPAP therapy you need settings that will prevent events, not treat them. The likelihood of events is determined mainly by body position sleep stage so fine-tune the auto options. For instance, MinEPAP of 4.0 is worthless.

Here are the results from the first night and I am waiting on second night results.

AHI of 71
RDI of 74
Lowest oxygen saturation 67%

Waiting for results and prescription but have no clue what to look at with so many different machines and masks. Thanks for any guidance. Michael

The machines do not learn, they react during the night, whenever you turn them off and back on again, either during the night or the next night, they start over fro their programmed settings. every night is a new night to them.

That will go away with time and welcome to the Resmed ASV club. I get zero's 99 percent off the time, it's a fantastic machine.

Would the ASV work better if it was set to the median values as calculate by OSCAR?

i.e.raising EPAPmin to 7 cm and raising PSmin to 2cm.

There are 3 views in Oscar: Statistics, Skylab and Epoch (1 - 5 minute blocks).

IIWM I'd look at Epoch By Epoch to try to identify what the thing is attacking.

In SkyLab View you can get a feeling for where you should be.

Initially my thoughts on using median alone were "There are no shortcuts!" but using those numbers and daily monitoring would probably be OK for the layman user. I'd still at least watch SkyLab view to zero in on craziness.

Certainly EPAP 4.0 and PS 0.0 is a waste of electricity.
